Is Meteor in 5.1? That was the word given here a month or so ago.John Morgan said:Just received THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY and METEOR today. It seems the sound of these is DTS. METEOR I would swear was originally in stereo, but not this Blu Ray. THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY sounds very good in the 5.1 sound, but probably would be better in a lossy format.
I'm going to try and resist as there;s no 4 track discrete 3/1.0. Typical wonder where they got the source from? 35 optical or mag prints?Todd Stout said:My Blu-ray copy of Meteor arrived today and I just popped it the player. The audio is DTS-HD MA 2.0 mono. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Looks like I have to keep my Laserdisc still. It's the only place that I know of that includes Dolby surround encoded 2.0 audio in PCM format.
The video quality appears to be good on my old 46" 1080i TV.
Nope. I received my copy today and Meteor is DTS-HD MA 2.0 mono. That is the only audio track that is included on the disc. I was really hoping to at least get the same 2.0 stereo track from the Laserdisc.Dr Griffin said:Is Meteor in 5.1? That was the word given here a month or so ago.
My copy was mono. Gosh, I hope they do TARAS BULBA in stereo. BULBA may have played here in mono, but I think it had a 70mm blowup for Europe with 6 track sound. The old MGM DVD is stereo, so I hold out hope. No excuse of METEOR as it was at least 4 track sound or Dolby encoded, which was getting common by 1979.Dr Griffin said:Is Meteor in 5.1? http://www.hometheaterforum.com/topic/331307-kino-lorber-studio-classics-first-time-on-blu-ray/page-23#entry4109626From the currently announced list - Meteor, Great Train Robbery and Mulholland Falls will include the 5.1 option. Most of the others will have 2.0 stereo or 2.0 mono.
I have the image Laserdisc and the surround mix that is encoded on the 2.0 PCM audio track sounds deliberate. If it was done after the fact, it was done very well. I have read in multiple places however that a 4.0 magentic sound mix was created for the original release and that was what was used for the Image Laserdisc.Well, if it is MONO the company employs *******s. I left several messages about the sound and for someone to contact me. I told them I was the consultant on the old Image Laserdisc which I made sure had the 4.0 mix. Not calling me back with questions is one thing - not looking in to it and getting the 4.1 mix is lazy.http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=9743310&postcount=7
Perhaps a fail to you but I saw the film in its first run Los Angeles engagement at first rate movie house ..... it was mono! Or perhaps you're referring to Kino failing to mix a mono soundtrack into stereo.Dr Griffin said:Another Kino fail.
