Logitech Harmony Ultimate Now Compatible with Nest
Learning Thermostat
Expands Simple Control of Your Home Devices from the Comfort of Your Couch
NEWARK, Calif. — June 23, 2014 — Today Logitech (SIX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) announced an update to itsHarmony® Ultimate remote, allowing you to view and adjust your Nest® Learning ThermostatTM settings directly from the remote’s 2.4-inch color touch-screen. In addition to controlling temperature, you can also change the thermostat’s settings, such as switching from heating to cooling or turning the system off completely.

“With the Logitech Harmony Ultimate you can already control a wide variety of devices in your home, and with this Nest Thermostat integration Logitech now delivers on one of the most requested features we hear from our customers – temperature control from the comfort of your couch,” said Joerg Tewes, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s digital home business group. “Adding Nest extends the Harmony Ultimate’s existing support for the most advanced home devices. With one touch of the remote or the Harmony App on your tablet or smartphone, you can dim your Philips Hue lights, turn on your TV, start a movie, and now set the temperature on your Nest thermostat.”

"The Nest Developer Program makes it possible for us to work with companies like Logitech to build new experiences in the home," said Matt Rogers Nest founder and vice president of engineering. "Through integrating with the Logitech Harmony Ultimate you now can adjust your home’s temperature while relaxing on the couch.”

This update also enables the Logitech Harmony Ultimate to communicate with Nest’s Auto-AwayTM function. Because both the remote and Nest Thermostat are connected to your home network, when you pick up the remote it notifies your Nest Thermostat that you’re home, and Nest adjusts the home temperature according to your settings.

Pricing and Availability

The free update is expected to be available for new and current Harmony Ultimate users beginning June 24, 2014. For more information, or to add your Nest Thermostat, please visit www.myharmony.com/nest or our blog.

I am looking to get The Nest.

I think I may have Logitech send me their Ultimate Remote along with
the thermostat.

The Nest seems like a gadget lover's dream come true. Love the fact
it can be controlled by a remote or iOS/Android app.

I wanted one from the beginning and finally got one last Thanksgiving. I love it. It's an incredibly well put together product (with great support).

Please post a review and followup review if you do!!!

I've been thinking about getting a Nest for the past year. But reviews are really mixed. I don't know if it's a good product or a waste of money.

I don't have Nest, I have ADT whole home...which works like Nest.Great when it works. I can let a service person into the house with their own 5 hour code and shut down the motion sensors for where they will be.But, when the power* goes out(and no net) the hard reboot...sucks.I could intertwine it with a URC, not sure about Harmony(Not checked).I have app or remote(If I wanted) control of lights, HVAC and security(the main house lock is remote, push button and key).*Have a whole home generator, but the switchover causes a shutdown of my router. If it reboots perfect, great. But I've had nights where power goes in and out 8 times.

Best thermostat I've ever used or installed. It's a high quality product. It learned our preferred heating and cooling schedule well and while I don't have a ton of data yet, it appears to be saving us money. It's also convenient to make adjustments from the phone. You probably won't do that a lot, but it is really handy when you do.

By the way, I'll add this.Options like Nest(Not the only one) Will save you...and then some.My electric bill dropped 40% when I got the whole home. LP dropped as well. The thermostats* on my system know when you are not home and if you forget to raise(or lower for winter) the temps...when the system notes a drop in electric use...it resets the temp to your high or low. The circuit box(on the net as well) can "brown" certain areas of the house so that even if you turn on lights, they only get 40-60% of power. Usefull at night if one person goes to the kitchen for a glass of milk...no need for full power**.*The house has 3 separate HVAC. All three thermostats are linked. If you, in person by hand, raise/lower one...The other two ping the app to ask if you want them to change.I can only imagine how much better this tech gets in another 5 years.**However if there is a spike in use(like a coffee pot, microwave or blender)...the brown is released...and that resets once the spike is over.

That's good to hear. From a review or two, I got the impression that it could run amok and then was difficult to bring back to providing the right climate control. For example, because it uses motion sensors, if it's not in the right trafficked part of the houser, it will get the wrong signals and skew the programming in undesired ways. And that its machine learning isn't easily reset and brought back in line with what you want.

I take it you've not had any of these problems.

We've got a pseudo-two zone system. There is a downstairs and an upstairs thermostat. But it's not independent HVAC systems. The upstairs thermostat controls a damper which varies which proportion of the heating / cooling is diverted upstairs. I would need two Nests to upgrade my house. So I've been reluctant to spend $400 on the unclear upgrade. (i think I'm also a little unsure of further turning my home into a Google data source as well.)

I just received the Logitech Harmony Ultimate Remote along with a Nest thermostat.

I will be posting a review shortly. Want to give the Nest more time to collect data.

I am very impressed with the Nest. Not certain as much with the new Logitech Remote. It has
a lot of new innovative features but I am not happy that many of the hard buttons have been
phased out in favor of a touch screen.

I'll post a link to a review when it's ready.
