Major character's death in the first few minutes. I have to say (and if you read previous season threads, you'll know I haven't been shy about expressing my opinion about this character), I shed no tears. Has been my least favorite character on the show since season two.

Looking forward to seeing what's in the future for the characters that I really like. But it looks like a final season that's going to offer very little tiny bits of pleasure for the characters between bouts of severe anxiety, violence, and death.

Same here. I know people have been criticizing the show since the second or third season (though apparently still watching it) and while it's not as much fun as it used to be, I still dig it enough that I'm excited to see where it goes for the characters.

One good thing is that it looks like the show is set in and focused on Bon Temps this year. Since they can't not have a season without 20 people in the main cast, keeping the story set in town should allow them to mostly focus on what the Hep V Vamps do to the town rather than like most of the other seasons where there's a main story and a handful of less interesting satellite stories.

I'm assuming Tara is alive because they didn't actually show her dying. I'm assuming the church stole her. But if she is dead, I'm pissed I didn't get to see that annoying character buy it onscreen.Nice nudity, though. No GoT porn stars for this show. All the actresses get naked.

That's what I thought too. However, since they didn't show her alive by the end of the episode and since it's the last season, all bets are probably off in terms of character deaths so she's either actually dead or they've pretty much fooled me into thinking that she's actually dead.

I hope the character Tara is really gone. I got tired of her whining many seasons back.
I hope the show ends its run on a high note, as it has been really bad for a while now. I realized just how ridiculous it has become, while watching it again last night. I'll stick with it until the end; but, for sure it will not go down in the annals of history as one of TV's better offerings. It was somewhat groundbreaking, as far as violence and nudity though-I'll give it that.

I sincerely hope Tara's mother makes a quick exit. There are plot-holes that entire planets could fall through. Why is Sookie having sex with everyone who moves into her field of vision? I must have completely forgotten the back half of last season, because I cannot remember for the life of me who Jason's new vampire-ladyfriend is.

Speaking of...someone asked if he was a fang-banger as though it were a surprise, but Jason is known both as the town gigolo, and to have slept with Jessica. Hell, this is actually, like, his third vampire sex-partner.

What was the point of Pam's Deer Hunter-scene in Morocco? How is Willow still a character, when it seems like thousands of better brunette vampires have died instead of her?

So, basically everyone has Hep V, now. Except the children....and a shit-ton of people in Bon Temps.

I can see how those who didn't care for Tara would be glad she's finally gone. I'm mostly ambivalent, myself, but would have preferred it if they'd done something with the character beyond making her a punching bag for the supernatural. Her being turned into a vampire started to turn things around in that respect, but it turned out to be too little, too late.

Based on what we saw, I'm assuming the mom killed her. They really should have let her die with the shotgun blast to the head. Perfect way to go.I also hope we'll see a flashback to her actual death, because few things would bring me more pleasure than to watch her die.

I have to ask, too -- when the hell did Pam go to Morocco? Also, I like Jason's vampire-chick, Violet. She can get righteously feral, and I dig that in a vamp.

I'm going to watch this entire last season. Goddammit, I am.

Hmm...I can hear all the groans of disappointment as all the Tara-haters realize killing her off means giving Lettie Mae more screen time. :)

The whole diary reading scene with flashbacks was just...ugh.

Is Tara really dead? Wouldn't Pam, as her creator, feel her death? Or is this another plot hole?

In theory, yes, but we don't really know if Pam's arc is happening simultaneously. It could be happening before what we see in Bon Temps.

I was wondering that but since Pam was in Morocco when Tara died, she wouldn't have been able to get back to Bon Temps in the couple of minutes before Tara was killed.

But she would have felt it, and mourned for the loss of her progeny. No such thing has happened.

Well, Pam did admit tonight that she felt Tara's true death so that's a moot point now.

My gosh, regulars are biting the dust now in this last season.
