Don't be so quick.  Universal and Paramount are the kings of botched catalog transfers.

I would definitely buy it as well if the transfer was excellent (it is an Amblin Entertainment title, though that didn't stop them from screwing up Back to the Future and Jurassic Park) and the DTS-Master Audio track was as good or better than the DTS laserdisc.

Pure surround demo material and the film is pretty fun too.  This wild mix would be a great candidate for a full blown object surround remix.  Casper is a lot better than some of the crap for the younger set we get today.

This was one of the most wrong headed and dismal comedies I've ever seen.

Then you haven't seen a lot of Adam Sandler films.  This is far from the worst out there and is even kind of clever with its use of in-jokes.

Great movie saw it @ the Empire Leicester Square in DTS back in 1995. Awesome sound FX, score, VFX. Movie still holds up well today as a lighthearted family movie with a few dark serious undertones.

Pre-ordered using the link above look forward to watching this again in I hope a decent HD transfer with the incredible soundtrack fully intact ;)

I felt sorry for Eric Idle. There was nothing he could do but mug it up and stink up the house.

Good point.

I won't watch anything that stars Adam Sandler or Jack Black these days.

I think it suffered from poor script logic, but makes up for it with good casting, music and set design.

You didn't see Mr. Wrong? This is Hamlet in comparison.

Enough is enough, Disney. No more evasions or excuses. We DEMAND the release Song of the South on Blu-ray along with the uncut version of Bedknobs and Broomsticks on Blu-ray. I am going to boycott The Walt Disney Company until then.

Then and now, The Cat in the Hat was worse than Class Z... it was on beyond zebra. :D I don't think a worse film than that is physically possible.
