Don't be so quick. Universal and Paramount are the kings of botched catalog transfers.
I would definitely buy it as well if the transfer was excellent (it is an Amblin Entertainment title, though that didn't stop them from screwing up Back to the Future and Jurassic Park) and the DTS-Master Audio track was as good or better than the DTS laserdisc.
Pure surround demo material and the film is pretty fun too. This wild mix would be a great candidate for a full blown object surround remix. Casper is a lot better than some of the crap for the younger set we get today.

Great movie saw it @ the Empire Leicester Square in DTS back in 1995. Awesome sound FX, score, VFX. Movie still holds up well today as a lighthearted family movie with a few dark serious undertones.
Pre-ordered using the link above look forward to watching this again in I hope a decent HD transfer with the incredible soundtrack fully intact

I felt sorry for Eric Idle. There was nothing he could do but mug it up and stink up the house.

I won't watch anything that stars Adam Sandler or Jack Black these days.

I think it suffered from poor script logic, but makes up for it with good casting, music and set design.
