I know it's a Best Picture winner and starring Ernest Borgnine.
Always wanted to see this. Now I can on Blu-ray in July.
Network was Chayefsky's third Oscar - following Marty and The Hospital in 1971.lukejosephchung said:This movie was written by the great Paddy Cheyevsky, who gave us "Network" in 1976 and won his 2nd Oscar for that amazing piece of cinematic literature...
Thank you very much, Matt. I can't wait to see it myself!Matt Hough said:Again, your tireless work will make many movie fans very happy, and I'm so grateful, Bob.
If I had to rank every Best Picture winner I've seen, this one would be on the top 10. Pure human observation, without an ounce of excessive sentimentality and no histrionics from any of the cast. A most affecting story of love, yearning and loneliness, accomplished with just the necessary tools (technically and story-wise).Ronald Epstein said:Never saw this film, but just ordered it blindly.

Thank you very much, Brian! And absolutely Bob, in its correct aspect ratio for the first time on home video -- in fact, since I got a bluray player with a aspect/zoom adjuster, I've been watching this movie on dvd in the OAR since you uncovered the fact that "Plan 9 from Outer Space" had never been seen in its correct aspect since it played theatrically. It is amazing seeing these movies filmed 'open matte' and playing them on a widescreen, one of the benefits of being on this Forum and learning from the experts.
There's a scene after Borgnine takes Betsy Blair home where she goes into her parent's bedroom to tell them about all that had happened to her that night. For some reason that was cut from the DVD release. I've never heard why. I hope it's been restored for this blu-ray release.moviepas said:I understand that the DVD version of Marty(1955) had a sequence cut from the film but that the scene appeared in the VHS version. I did put the PAL VHS I had onto DVD just in case. Any clues on this incident?
That is a great cover.Ronald Epstein said:
