Wow, six have been either released or forthcoming since my initial post; guess I'll have to look at my collection again to find some replacements for the list.

The Eiger Sanction is also available in a Region Free Bluray in UK, included in an Eastwood box, in case you're interested.

Colossus: The Forbin Project (probably hasn't aged well technically)
The Shootist (what an amazing swan song)

Death In Venice (over-rated but I bet it would benefit immensely from a Blu-ray upgrade or even a complete restoration)

Night Moves

Sharkey's Machine (Burt's best film, IMO, great story.)

The Andromeda Strain (ebola, anyone? Still the best 'plague' film ever made)

I've thought about getting the Koch German region-free Blu-ray of The Andromeda Strain, though it sounds like it wasn't much of a cleanup on the video. Haven't seen Colossus in years, but would buy a Blu. I don't think Death in Venice is overated, but maybe I haven't seen the same "ratings". I'd like to see a region A Blu-ray of it, with a proper restoration, but maybe the best time for that has passed. Sudios/Labels are doing less all-out restorations, excepting maybe Criterion, here in the US.

Yes, I think so too.

Especially if it received a restoration like Arrow's Cinema Paradiso!

While I'd be thrilled to hear the announcements for a lot of things mentioned in this thread so far, since my tastes usually run a little more low brow and exploitation, these are the ones that would really do it for me (or at least a partial list of them...I could easily add another handful without a whole lot of effort). I think this is ten, but my eyes are getting bad and I was never really good at math.

I'm only really interested in Blu-rays of films still unreleased on R1 (pressed) DVD, out-of-print R1 DVD titles I missed out on, and anamorphic upgrades of non-anamorphic R1 DVDs... so, off the top of my head:

1970

Brotherhood of the Bell

Colossus: The Forbin Project

1971

Melody

Unman Wittering Zigo

When Eight Bells Toll

Willard

1973

Arnold

Charley Varrick

Day of the Jackal

Harry in Your Pocket

Theatre of Blood

1974

The Black Windmill

Gold

The Parallax View

1975

The Eiger Sanction

Sharks' Treasure

1976

The Savage Bees

1977

Star Wars (original theatrical version)

1979

1941 (individual release)

Willard is a BCP Bing Cosby Production

Sharkey's Machine (Burt's best film, IMO, great story.)

WB indicated in August 2013 that they were prepping that film for blu-ray.

But it´s the wrong thread because "Sharky´s Machine" is not a 70´s movie. It was made in 1981!!!!

And speaking of Burt Reynolds, one of Burt's 1970s efforts comes off the 70s Favourites Not On Blu-ray List:

Hooper (1978) starring Burt as a top-flite Hollywood stuntman.  It has been officially announced for a blu-ray release on April 7th 2015.

Can only narrow it down to 11:

The Beguiled

Coming Home (glad to hear it's on its way)

Day of the Locust

The Friends of Eddie Coyle

Funny Lady

Klute

Mame (yes, really!)

The Owl and the Pussycat

Prince of the City

Theatre of Blood

The Yakuza

Would also love to see Arnold (glad to hear I'm not the only one who remembers this.)

Since 2 from my list are now on blu-ray, I'm replacing them with:

The Boys in the Band

On A Clear Day You Can See Forever

The Beguiled

No waiting as I'm pretty sure THIS is Region Free (even though it's listed as B).

It was released in a box set of most of the Universal Eastwoods a few months back, and the box set is listed as Region Free. I'll check my copy tonight to make sure.

The '70s is easily my favorite decade for film, so I am not going to even attempt to list just 10 films:

1970

Colossus: The Forbin Project

Little Fauss and Big Halsy

1971

The Andromeda Strain

Carnal Knowledge

Klute

1972

The Candidate

The Mechanic

Silent Running

Slaughterhouse-Five

1973

Bang the Drum Slowly

Charley Varrick

Cinderella Liberty

Emperor of the North Pole

The Friends of Eddie Coyle

The Last Detail

The Seven-Ups

1974

The Longest Yard

Mr. Majestyk

The Parallax View

Phase IV

Zardoz

1975

Dersu Uzala

The Drowning Pool

Night Moves

Shampoo

Smile

1976

Bound for Glory

The Missouri Breaks

1977

Black Sunday

Demon Seed

Looking for Mr. Goodbar

1978

Coming Home

Heaven Can Wait

Pretty Baby

The Silent Partner

Straight Time

1979
All That Jazz

Breaking Away

The Onion Field

I really don't keep up with catalog titles in other regions, so I would not be surprised if some of these available.   Just some of the titles that I really have enjoyed that (I believe) are not available.  I may have missed a release here or there as I don't keep up with catalog releases as much these days.

- Walter.

Walter, hope you don't mind me using your list to start the Parade of the 70s Blus, aka movies that are coming off this list.  I'll use yours because none of the titles I listed in the OP have been released onto Blu as of this date.

From Walter's List:

Breaking Away (1979):  Will be released in January 2015 by Twilight Time.

All That Jazz (1979): A Criterion release.

Coming Home (1978):  Kino Lorber.

The Missouri Breaks (1976): Kino Lorber

Zardoz (1974): Twilight Time.

The Mechanic (1972):  Twilight Time.

And to continue...

Meteor (1979): Kino Lorber

1941 (1979)

Dracula (1979)
