An Update on an entry on my OP original list, Arnold (1974).

I posted an inquiry about this movie over on Scream Factory's FB page and actually got a few responses (but none from Scream Factory's admin).   Apparently according to George Reis, Arnold is caught up in some legal tangles with the Bing Crosby estate.  Of course I had no idea Bing Crosby had anything to do with this movie but he was still alive when Arnold was released.

Furthermore Mr. Reis mentioned that  Scorpion Releasing  confirmed this information as they have been releasing other "Cinerama" films for some time.   Oh well, another fun film bogged down in rights issues.

Here's hoping Scorpion Releasing can get something done with Arnold along with other Cinerama titles and bring them to Blu-ray.  I provided to Scorpion Releasing's web page and here's Scorpion Releasing's FB Page.

So glad Arnold isn't completely forgotten.  Would love to see it get a release one day.

Death in Venice (1971)

The Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971) - the TV pilot of the Waltons

Cinderella Liberty (1973)

Images (1973)

The Island at the top of the World (1974)

The Sugarland Express (1974)

Star Wars (original theatrical) (1977)

Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)/Return from Witch Mountain (1978)

The Black Hole (1979)

Since in my original list The Sugarland Express is announced for release, I'd like to substitute it with Darling Lili (1970).

I'm surprised Criterion never put out a Mazursky box set of his Fox films....HARRY AND TON TO, NEXT.STOP GREENWICH VILLAGE, AN UNMARRIED WOMAN and WILLIE AND PHIL.

A guilty pleasure , THE BETSY, was never shown justice on DVD

And WHEN YOU COMIN BACK RED RYDER? Which is vastly underrated.

Hopefully the Paramounts...CITIZENS BAND, LOOKING FOR MR GOODBAR, THE DAY OF THE LOCUST, FIRST LOVE

70s Favourites UPDATE:

Aloha Bobby & Rose (1975):  OK, still no Blu but it has just been announced (over on the DVD Forum, confirmed on Amazon) that Aloha Bobby & Rose is getting a DVD release (after what almost 40 years since theatrical release).

Release date is 29 July 2014.  Initial price offering is $9.99 for the DVD

Credit Louis Leitizia  for this announcement on the DVD forum.

My next step will be to contact the fine folks at Shout Factory / Timeless Media to see about a possible Blu release.

Um, Aloha Bobby and Rose was released on DVD - I have it, so no, it's not forty years, it's a decade since it's been out.

File this under "Oh Rats!!".  Just got a email from Jennifer (no last name) at Timeless Video.  No plans to release Aloha Bobby & Rose on Blu at this time.   On the other hand Shout Factory could maybe still bring it to Blu, although admittedly I don't know how their arrangement with Timeless is set up. But here's hoping.

Well on the 70s Movie Titles front we did get the announcement of Brannigan (1975) being released by TT.  And we are getting a (hopefully well produced) DVD of ABR so not a total loss.

Well, RATS!! Shout Factory just answered my FB inquiry.  There will be no Blu for Aloha Bobby & Rose.  From them anyway.

Oh I'm disappointed in Shout but not mad.  Well maybe just a tad ticked but I don't know the whole story.  I don't know the quality level of the digital transfer they have (and apparently used on the new DVD release).  Nor do I know what reproduction rights they have.

Now if they're sitting on a 4K quality transfer and just don't feel like releasing a Blu, then I might get ticked off a bit.

Anyway I did express disappointment to Shout but was very polite, and even bought their new DVD release.  Once I view it, I"ll update this thread and the entry on the DVD Forum.

Might make a interesting comparison with The Legend of Billie Jean, made a decade after Aloha Bobby & Rose.  Plenty of similarities from what I've read.
