Hi there. New to the forum, just wanted to take a second to introduce myself -- my name is Stefan. Currently live in the city of Atlanta and am about to make a move to the burbs (Alpharetta). And that "move" is what has led me here :).

Our targeted new construction home has a space that I'm planning to build a home theatre. Over the next couple of days, I'll be reading thru applicable forum posts to learn and hopefully not ask a bunch of questions that have already been discussed.

And then at some point I'd like to share my 'vision' and ask for some feedback/suggestions. Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks for accepting me into the forums and look forward to participating, Stefan.

Welcome Stefan. Are you going to do the work yourself or have it prebuilt? Having just gone the prebuilt during construction route I will say the one regret I have is only prewiring for 5.1. Should I do it again I would definitely prewire for 7.1, maybe 7.2

Having a 3rd party wiring company do the pre-wiring for a 7.2 setup. I'll post my sketch/vision tonight. Would love some feedback from someone who just did something similar.

I didn't get much choice as to layout, they did the wire runs for center, sub and fronts on one wall, where I put the rack on another and wired up 2 rears along the sides plus a drop for HDMI in the ceiling with ethernet between the two. Their system would not allow for expansion beyond 5.1 at the time, sadly.

I wish I had gone another 2 feet further back with my rear faceplates. As you can see I have a dopey run of 2 feet of wire connecting the rears to the faceplate now...
