Those international shipping charges at Network are way over the top. (40 pounds = Aud $72 for more than one title?)
I think I'll stick to Amazon thank you very much, as their prices are most reasonable.

As a rule the picture and sound quality of every Network title is very, very good.
I've purchased quite a lot of their titles and so far have only had one dud.
"Kings Rhapsody" with Errol Flynn is an early Cinemascope title and unfortunately the picture and sound quality is atrocious.(very much unlike them)
At least it is Anamorphic. The film itself stinks anyway.
Another early Cinemascope musical "The Good Companions" on the other hand is excellent.

Those series of 'Ealing Studio Rarities' DVDs are all excellent and are incredible value at under 10 pounds for 4 films.
I adore old vintage musicals and network have a good collection of those. (british musicals vol 1 and vol 2)
The previous mentioned rarities contain some musicals as well.

"Elstree Calling" is a rare gem. As a very early sound film it contains hand coloured sequences.

The "Scotland Yard" series of Theatrical shorts from the early 50s is also a great collectors piece. (contains all 39 shorts made)
Quality again is very good. The later shorts in the set are even 1.66:1 Anamorphic.

I've been very impressed with Network so far (bar one hiccup).
All of their titles are rare and I would think that most have never been available on Video before.
They are all legit studio releases, using the best available studio material.

My Amazon account currently has even more of their titles on pre-order.

Thanks Byron for bringing them to everybody's attention. They certainly are worthy of it.

Upcoming release of another rare title (original 35mm trailer frame)

Doug, whilst we are mentioning the Network delivery prices(and I have used them when I ordered a large amount of stuff and it worked out that way but anything not in stock, though, is cancelled, no back orders) I wish to point out an exercise I did last night at Amazon.com. I found that I could not alter the shipping from Expedited as there was no box for Standard Shipping. Both Expedited & Group as musch as possible in the one package were filled in and would not budge except when I click the button for 3-5 days shipping. That added about $300 shipping to the order!!! I got rid of that and continued on. This over overcharged me, so I thought.

I went to shipping rates for Australia and found CD/DVD units are now $1.99 per unit plus the $4.99 service fee. Only recently they had raised it from .99 to $1.49. I let the order go thru and then notified them. It seems they charged me the Expedited rate of $2.49 per unit and the service fee and they gave me a c$22.00 credit which they did by giving me postage credit as an account adjustment of about $3.11 on a bunch of titles on previous order to add up to the credit. Funny way of doing it but it was done promptly. I noted that their book shipping is $5.49 per title now plus a similar service fee price.

Now if only I can get a response from Thunderbean Animation for their Gulliver's Travels Blu Ray and about 3 other titles I PayPalled back in March at their request. Then nothing. Very concerned as I do want the discs and Google searches on my machine have the line that the site is a Virus carrier and clicking gets me a refusal to connect page and I got one saying it was a fraud site. I don't believe this.

Yes I see what you mean. They obviously are having virus problems at the moment.

You can get to Thunderbean and send them a message safely by going to Amazon.com.
Go to Thunderbean's Amazon shop front and click on 'about thunderbean'
That will lead you to order queries, etc.

I've heard that they are very trustworthy and reliable.

Good Luck.

I had trouble getting onto Thunderbeans site the other day with Google Chrome saying it contained malware.
However , I ordered the Gullivers Travels via Amazon UK where Thunderbean sell it on marketplace .It arrived today and very nice it looks too.
Managed to cover about 1/3 of the Thunderbean price by selling that dreadful Koch version

Unfortunately the Network sale ended almost 8 hours ago - I thought it was on until midnight so I'll have to wait for the next one.
Beware of ordering older Network product . Several years back their discs were appalling with sub standard authoring on dozens of titles resulting is pixellation and generally poor quality images . Their releases of 16mm material fared particularly badly.

Fortunately they must have fired the person responsible because for the last few years their releases have been superb and their Bluray releases are uniformly incredible surpassing many Hollywood titles . Their releases of tv shows like Space 1999 , The Prisoner and The Persuaders are far better even than the Star Trek TOS sets.

Um - I just ordered 7 DVDs, and postage to Australia was 7 pounds.

I would double check that .
Network don't usually offer flexible postage rates . The non UK postage is stated as £40 . You must have gotten in under their weight limit but Network never tell you what that is.
I did try ordering from them a few days ago but once I ordered 9 discs the free postage ended . But deleting titles didn't remove the charge.
Network really are useless when it comes to postage. You can get round the charge by splitting the order into mutiple orders but why can't they do that ?
I scrapped the order then forgot to return so they lost a sizeable order

Well I was charged 7 pounds fifty pence for my order to Australia yesterday; and it was shipped out less than 2 hours after the order was placed. I have another two titles in my cart on the Network site and the postage is 3 pounds fifty pence. I paid via Paypal. All in all, with currency conversion I paid $56.60 for my 7 DVDs.

I would ignore shipping emails from Network.
As we in the UK know the email simply means your order has been passed onto the storage facility that posts the items out . Networks actual admin office is nowhere near the warehouse that sends out their discs - the same warehouse also mails out for the BBC Shop ( and others).
It's a very misleading practice . I've had shipping emails then 10 days later contacted Network about non delivery to find the item is actually out of stock as have many other people.
I would have hoped they would stop doing it but they just carry on regardless.

I merely stated the rates displayed on their website which are listed as 40 pounds for multiple discs.
They charge for international insurance which would help explain their high listed price.

If you were only charged 7 pounds then you were either very lucky or their website has it all wrong.
Let's know how you get on as I'd certainly give them a go at that low price.

Will see how I go. The prices buying direct from Network (instead of going through Amazon UK) are certainly cheaper all-round.

In regards to international postage here is Network's outline:

"larger orders may incur a shipping charge of up to £40.00"

So my order may have been small enough to be cheaper. Maybe orders of 15 or more discs carry that larger fee. In my order summary, shipping is quoted as "Rest of the world", so there hasn't been a mistake I don't believe. Again I'll see what happens when the discs arrive. If I have a positive experience I can see myself buying many more from their 'British Film' series.

Byron, were they 7 different, individual discs or in a box set?
If they were in a single box then that might explain it.
