Hey you guys :) loved the original at least its not a remake/reboot & Donner/Spielberg/Colombus being involved guarantee's a certain standard of quality (I hope!).

It'd be great if they got all the original actors back.

Seems sort of pointless to make a sequel this long after the original. Goonies 2: The Secret of The Crystal Skulls.

I suspect it'll follow the kids of the original characters.

They've kind-of, sort-of already done that with Super 8. I'm not sure The Goonies is mentioned, but it's a similar group of kids on a wild adventure.

Super 8 was intended as an homage to kiddie adventure films of the '80s like The Goonies.
