AMC Theaters lately have been screening classic films, choosing one classic a week, and Spartacus is up on May 18th.
Here's what I'm wondering: it's obviously going to be digital projection. But what will the source of that be? The current Blu-ray that's not exactly beloved around here? A DCP copy made from the same source as the BD that looks equally bad? A less overprocessed DCP?
Any ideas? While I'm all for seeing it on the big screen, I've already been fortunate enough to see the 70mm restoration, so I don't desperately need to go out and see this. If the source is going to be the same as the Blu-ray and look just as bad, I can't imagine going. On the other hand, if it was significantly better, then it would be hard to stay away.
