When I run a built in surround sound test on my 5.1 home theater system, the rear left and right speakers produce the same sound (mono instead of stereo). Is it supposed to be like this? In the manual it says "There is no difference between the surround speakers. Both speakers can be connected as R (right) or L (left).

I remember now(looked at your "name" and found all your threads).

You have an old Aiwa Smash rack that pre-dates DD.

Anything that pre-dates DD...

The "surrounds are mono" is accurate.
