I'm attaching a picure of my layout. The red box on the picture is where our fuse box is (rec room). It sits right above the top of the couch. I bought this: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/dendht1513ba/denon-dht-1513ba-home-theater-system-w/boston-acoustics-speakers/1.html

and I'm unsure where to place the speakers because of this fuse box.

Option A is to place it right next to the fuse box in that corner a little above ear level. I'm afraid the rest of the people sitting on the other side of the couch (bottom of picture) will not hear anything from that speaker cause it will kind of cut them off.

Option B is to place the speaker above the fuse box. This will put it at about 6 1/2 feet off the floor. If this is the case, do I angle them downward? Would i then keep the front speakers still at ear level then? Would this be too high?

I can't really place them on the "side" wall (or bottom wall on the picture) because the fuse box door swings open.

Sub would be up front next to the center speaker

What are your thoughts? Any other ideas?

Your couch should be slid up to the corner of the L, where you end up walking behind it.Otherwise, mount the surrounds both at 6.5 feet angled down. Leave the fronts be.

I don't really want to move it up cause I think it would look odd in the room.. The picture isn't really to scale.

If I wire the speakers through the fuse box (it's more of a decorative box with a fuse box inside of it so there's plenty of space)...would the speaker wires interfere with anything in the box- electrical and cable from direct tv?

Option BAbove the fuse box. Which, according to your post, puts them 6.5 feet up.If above the fuse box, there is zero messing with the fuse box.

Right.. but in order to hide the wires.. I will have to hide them IN the box that covers the fuse box.

Then how(and why?) Would "through the fuse box" be an issue. And no, you can't put speaker wire anywhere near electrical.1. Not code.2. EMI

Run CL rated wire in the wall, not in the same stud space as the fuse box(the whole "not code").Buy paintable flat wire(yes...paintable flat wire)OrCordmate channels to conceal the wires up the wall.
