I'm looking at the HK 1510, 1565, and 1700 all refurbished and within my $200 budget... what do y'all think?

What types of speakers(floor, satellite etc)? How many? What experience are you looking to get out of your system overall?

The 1700 had disastrous reviews when it was released. Apparently all that has been fixed.Out of those three...I'd take the 1565, A's it is closer to HK of old.To be particular. I've never used/heard a HK AVR. Only their 2 channel.

You can pick up many 2013 models on clearance at most retailers right now as they make room for the 2014's. The Pioneer 1123 is currently selling for $399.99. Entry-level models from Pioneer, Yamaha, and Denon are going for $199.99, if you can still find them in stores.

BIC DV62si and matching center for fronts, Dayton B652s for surrounds, and a Dayton SUB 1000. I just sold my Onkyo TX SR508 and i'm looking for the best overall SQ for music and movies. I know HK "used" to be one of the best for SQ. I can stretch my budget to $300 if needed. What do you guys think? I can pick up a used Pioneer 1123k for $200 plus shipping, but I really only need 5.1. I've also looked at the Yamaha 475? Marantz 1403, and a couple of different Denons. I'm so confused on what i should do.

The VSX-1123 could also come in handy for the future as far as adding/changing speakers and even component. For the price and performance, I recommend it. Otherwise, the Marantz - 1403

They are "all made by Sherwood" under $600.Not sure why you sold the 508 to replace it with another $200 AVR.That is like trading in a 2010 Focus for a 2013 Cruze.

I know, but it seemed the only way to sell my Infinity TSS 450 speakers and I got $400 cash out of the deal... so, here I am, researching AVRs and I want to try something besides Onkyo this time as my last two AVRs were Onkyos

By the way...the Yammy 377 is only $250 new(less than last years nicely rated 375) and includes YPAO w/ sub trim.

You could even be the guinea pig on Virtual Cinema Front.

the more time i spend with this thing, the more i like it. it absolutely kills my old Onkyo in the SQ department and the vTuner is AWESOME!!! i also really,REALLY like the fact that you can adjust tone/surround mode/etc. for each source individually. i've had 0 problems yet. i did run the ez set and then reset the unit and calibrated myself, it sounds great either way. also, i've seen all over the web that the 1700 has no direct audio mode when in fact it does, it's the tone out setting. also, for those that complain about HDMI pass thru, there is an option in the system settings tom pass HDMI audio to the TV, while i realize this isn't truly pass thru, one could always turn the receiver volume down and use the TV speakers.
