I have hometheater system - Optoma projector, Yamaha Amplifier. Currently I use WD TV Live media player connected via ethernet cable to my PC where in are my movie collections. They are in various formats video and audio viz. .mkv, .avi etc and .aac, .ac3, DTS, Dolby Digital etc.

Instead of WD TV Live media player, is it possible to use a BlueRay Player for the same purpose? if yes, which model should I buy.

Basically I want to watch movies stored in my PC which should be connected through ethernet cable. And than the palyer will be connected to projector via HDMI and to Amplifier via Optical SPDIF Audio.

Thanks

LG, typically, covers the most formats. Find the BD player that covers the ones you have.I take it your current Yamaha does not have HDMI? And why are you wanting to get rid of the media player? Most of them outperform BD players for net content anyway.

thanks schan1269. Yes my Yamaha does not have HDMI. But is it possible this way? I mean can I replace Media Player with BD player with same functionality that my media player serves.

I am not much interested in net connectivity and besides I dont like WD TV Live. Though I like Xtremer Prodigy, but, it is giving me a network issue.
