I've had my Oppo 83 for around 5 years now. Early on I picked up a hardware Mod that I believe consisted of a mini card and ribbon cable connection. I've used it flawlessly for other DVD regions for several years. Finally, I got around to getting a Region B blu-ray disk and the mod is not working. I recall reading a while back that a firmware upgrade ended up disabling the mod due to how the mod bypassed the regions and what was included within the firmware upgrade.
Anyone recall this? Was there a resolution, possibly from a later firmware upgrade?
I don't see buying another mod just for one disk at this point and will probably wait until my next Blu-ray player purchase to go region free again if there is no other workaround for the mod I already purchased.
