I have a Panasonic tcp50vt25 which I love. Wasn't paying attention to the fact that Panasonic was getting out of the business.Looking for a comparable TV, since Panasonics are almost all gone.Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Top line of Samsung plasmas, then Panasonic Professional, then LG plasma. Look at OLED, if you can afford it.

I noticed the Samsung frame OLED includes an exterior connection box.Is that included...or an extra cost option?Hitachi tried that on their UltraThin and people couldn't grasp the concept. Hopefully people get it now...and that box is extra cost...as I would never use it.

I think you can still get a Panasonic plasma

pick up a zt60 or a vt60
Yes, if you poke around there may be some new ones somewhere out there. Do not buy a floor model that has been on display and running for hours on end, seven days a week on a show floor. Also, the xxxST60 models are still superior to LCD, for a great price.

Robert at ValueElectronics.com and I traded a couple of emails last week. At the time he had one remaining TCP60ZT60 available for $3,000 + $140 for shipping. I passed, but it'll be a great display for whoever decides to pick it up.

The Samsung F8500 series is sooo close to the Pani ZT & the Sammy is better in rooms with light.
Samsung has an optional upgrade module (support up to 2017). & the set costs much less
Unlike other brands, no Banding, IR or BI issues either
The Smart TV features are unrivaled

Other than the Sammy buzz issue (rare & mostly 60" sets) (Pani have fan noise issues)
Pani does have very slightly deeper blacks in totally dark rooms - where most reviewers tested.

Literally, these 2 are so close - read reviews & view it in stores. Decide for yourself

Sammy will be bringing out their 2014 line soon.

After months of research I chose the PN60F8500 - it is spectacular!
I will go 64" after my renovation to add a dedicated ~20' X ~14' HT (un-parallel walled) room to my home, hopefully next year.

Finally, after many years, something compares to/exceeds my Pioneer Elite RPG HDTV

Note: If ever I had to cop to being a brand fanboy, I would have to admit to that only for higher end Yamaha & Pioneer equipment.
(Linn, Lexicon, Wilson & etc are beyond what I am willing to spend, & the WAF)

I also echo the Samsung F8500 series.

I owned both the Panasonic ZT60 and F8500.

Hands down, the F8500 is better and black levels are the same, in my opinion.

I am sort of amazed I am even saying that, because I was never a Samsung fan.

Samsung has finally produced a display worthy of going against (and beating in
some cases) the very best plasmas out there.

The F8500 is no doubt an awesome TV. Yet, after closely analyzing (with my own eyes of course ), the ZT really has outstanding blacks than any other panel I have seen, well besides the ELITE/KURO. I do want the 51F8500 tho, Gravity looks great on it. Just don't buy no freaking LED unless you could afford the OLED. Seek the ZT/VT/F8500 or wait mid to late spring for Sammy's new PDPs
