Surveillance Cameras, suggestions required! (1 Viewer)

Hey Everyone,
I am a newbie to this forum and don't know whether I am at the right place or not, but I need some good suggestions for security cameras that I need to install at my grocery store. I am facing some issues regarding employee theft and also some of the things are missing, it may be due to some local crowd too but I am not sure, therefore I am planning to get a camera to keep an eye.
So, if anyone of you could provide me some good suggestion regarding the camera like what to get, from where to get. I would be really thankful

How many?Wired/wireless?VHS/ DVD/ cloud storage?

Oh yeah...Constant/motion activated?Will fake cameras do? (Sometimes just hooking up a camera to a monitor with signs indicating "hi, I'm watching"...works)

Hey schan, I was thinking of installing at least 6-8 cameras to cover each & every corner of the store. I would prefer wired one because it is said that the clarity and resolution of wired cameras are better than wireless ones and also their price is less. I would prefer a dvd storage. Therefore, I was looking over the internet for some electronic store that specializes in security cameras.

Constant cameras will do. But ofcourse not fake cameras because I just don't want to keep people cautious about the camera being installed. I really want a security system that would help me to get some proof if something suspicious happens in the store. That time the camera footage would be of use to find the suspects. I was thinking of a 4 or 8 channel dvr security system.

Oh! Sorry about that George. I wasn't sure about that. Therefore, I mentioned earlier about the same. I searched for the security camera on the internet and came across various camera stores. Thanks, I'll look at this too

Yeah IP cameras, I have heard about them too in fact I saw some great IP cameras over here - https://www.q-see.com/products/product_details.php?id=126&pid=119I am thinking to get from q-see because this website only provides security cameras and have specialization in them. If some one has any other source or vendor, please let me know

great stuff at Sams Club. .....8 cams with DVR for around 400 ish. You may want to upgrade some cameras to add sound and or motion / zooming panning. If you buy a kit...you will want to upgrade the cabling.

One more time. Consult with a security professional. You are not doing this for entertainment. The image capture quality of the equipment should be very important to you. Not just the claimed specifications, but the quality of the lenses and all associated equipment. This activity you want to view and record is costing you business revenue on an ongoing basis. This has to be stopped. Realize that if there is any employee stealing inventory from your business, they may escalate their activities. No employer should want a crook working in their establishment. If you have to take someone to court, the quality of the image capture and recording will be vital.

Oh, yeah, you're right. I must have the quality of image & video vital enough to drag someone to court. So far, I am pretty much happy with the system I got and look forward that all goes well.

Anyone that is setting up these systems should make sure they mount the camera's high enough so that burglars have a harder time breaking or tearing the cameras off the wall or where they are mounted. Another problem that is happening more and more is law enforcement performing no knock warrants at the right address and wrong addresses and even for the most simple infractions. When they see camera's more and more of them are tearing the cameras off there mounts or just breaking them. So just in general I would be careful where you mount the camera itself. Just some FYI. Basically if you need to go to court you want to have the video footage no matter who the person is.
