Compelling and Funny Tour de Force Debuts on Blu-ray Combo February 25, 2014


HOLLYWOOD, Calif.  – Called “poignant and hilarious”(Roger Moore, McClatchy-Tribune News Service), “genuinely touching” (Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly) and “damn near perfect”(Peter Travers, Rolling Stone), the “brilliant, wisely observed and wryly funny” (Claudia Puig, USA TodayNEBRASKA makes its Blu-ray, DVD and VOD debut on February 25, 2014 from Paramount Home Media Distribution.  The film will arrive on Digital and Digital HD February 18.

Hailed as “an American masterpiece” (Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times), NEBRASKA is nominated for six Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, Best Director (Alexander Payne), Best Actor (Bruce Dern), Best Original Screenplay (Bob Nelson), Best Supporting Actress (June Squibb) and Best Cinematography (Phedon Papamichael).  The film was also named one of the best movies of the year by the AFI, Wall Street JournalUSA TodayVanity FairRolling StoneNew York TimesThe New YorkerLos Angeles Times,Variety, Huffington Post, Slate, the National Board of Review and numerous critics associations.

From Academy Award-winner Alexander Payne, the director of Sideways and The Descendants, comes the captivating story of a father (Bruce Dern) and his adult son (Will Forte) who embark on a journey to claim a million-dollar prize; what begins as a fool’s errand becomes a search for the road to redemption. 

Screen legend Bruce Dern gives “a career crowning performance” (Scott Foundas, Variety) that has earned him widespread critical praise, as well as the Best Actor award from the Cannes Film Festival, the National Board of Review and the Los Angeles Film Critics and Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG, Spirit and Satellite award nominations. NEBRASKA also features an outstanding supporting cast including Stacy Keach, Oscar nominee June Squibb and a “revelatory” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) Will Forte.

The film will be available in a Blu-ray Combo Pack with UltraViolet™ and an in-depth look at the making of the film, as well as on a single-disc DVD.

The NEBRASKA Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 3.0 DTS-HD Master Audio, French 3.0 Dolby Digital, Spanish 3.0 Dolby Digital, German 3.0 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, English SDH, French, Spanish and German subtitles.  The DVD in the combo pack is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with English 3.0 Dolby Digital, French 3.0 Dolby Digital, Spanish 3.0 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, French, Spanish and German subtitles.  The combo pack includes UltraViolet or access to a digital copy of the film as well as the following:

The Blu-ray release available for purchase will be enabled with UltraViolet, a new way to collect, access and enjoy movies.  With UltraViolet, consumers can add movies to their digital collection in the cloud, and then stream or download them – reliably and securely – to a variety of devices.



The single-disc DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with English 3.0 Dolby Digital, French 3.0 Dolby Digital, Spanish 3.0 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, French, Spanish and German subtitles.  The disc includes the feature film in standard definition.

Just came back from seeing this film. Very impressive. Excellent widescreen B&W cinematography. Superb script and performances. The films of Alexander Payne have never disappointed me.

Try and catch this before it disappears. It truly deserves all the nominations it received.
