So I was looking for a thread for this and completely surprised to see there wasn't one yet. Rick and Morty is a new-ish animated show on Adult Swim, written by Dan Harmon (of Community fame) and Justin Roiland.Basically, imagine a twisted version of the Marty / Doc Brown dynamic and you'll know what this is all about.Anyway, it took me a couple episodes to really get into it, but the last few have been on fire.

Same here. Was wondering why no one has been talking about this great show, coming as it does with Dan Harmon as co-creator and writer. Also all the people that love (or used to) Community?

This show is hysterical, and you can't help feel bad for Morty each episode. Favorite one so far? The "Jurassic Park/Fantastic Voyage" episode:

[*]"Reuben's seen some rough years, Morty. Don't judge. You don't agree to have a theme-park built inside of you if your life's going great."
[*]"If the situation keeps darkening, do yourself a favor, and pop by Pirates Of The Pancreas. Obviously, I'm biased, but it's really great. It's a bunch of pirates running around a pancreas. We don't white-wash it either, Morty -- I mean, the pirates are REALLY rapey."
Quite possibly my favorite new show on TV.

I caught the first two eps and yes, they are off the rails amazeballs. And dense as hell -- the second episode was an extended riff on Inception, Nightmare on Elm Street, and sentient dogs in exoskeltons. It was cray cray. And it's hilarious to think that most of the show is Justin Roiland talking to himself.

It's probably still between "Anatomy Park" and "Meeseeks and Destroy" for my favorites, but this week's was again equal parts highly amusing and highly screwed up.

I really loved the verb use for Cronenberg as in "I really Cronenberged the world up" in this one though. :D

Surfing around last night, I read that R&M got picked up for a second season.
http://splitsider.com/2014/01/adult-swim-renews-rick-and-morty-for-season-2

...I saw some of the remaining Season 1 episode titles:

"Raising Gazorpazorp"
"Rixty Minutes"
"Something Ricked This Way Comes"
"Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind"
"Ricksy Business"

Man, this show is on fire. I honestly can't remember the last time a show hit the ground running like this.

("Boy Morty, I really Cronenberg-ed the world up, didn't I?")

Also, I loved the whole, "Whoa, we can probably only do this like three or four more times, tops!"-bit.

I remembered to watch this week. Not bad. The dog stuff was the best material ("Where are my testicles?"). The Scary Terry stuff was very predictable but still kinda funny.

This show is nuts. I love it. Last week they ended up on an alien ship, somehow.

It's ridiculous, but I enjoy it. Very different. In a lot of ways, the pilot reminded me of the Dead Milkmen song 'Stuart'.

"What is my purpose?"
"Passing butter."
"...Oh my god."
"Yeah, welcome to the club, pal."

A parody of Stephen King's Needful Things? I'll take it.

Watching a 'roided-up Rick and Summer kick the living shit out of a Westboro Baptist Church protester to the tune of DMX's "X Gon Give It To Ya"?

You're fucking right I'll take it.

"So, this store sells what, cursed items like.." and rattles of several, including Friday the 13th the Series, etc. I was dying.

"Your Zuckerberging me?"

This show is gold. And now that it not just about Rick and Morty gallivanting across the multiverse and deconstructing scifi tropes, it's getting tighter and funnier, although it is in danger of turning into a nihilistic Simpsons. Which is actually still a good thing.

This show is enormously entertaining. I can't get enought of it. Wall-to-wall zingers and meta jokes. Awesomeness incarnate.

"So listen...the heat's on, and there's nowhere left to turn, so Morty and I are just gonna fly my spaceship into a black hole. That cool with you, dawg?"

Holy shit, this show.

This show wasted exactly no time diving into the deep end of the SF pool, and stretching the jokes for all they're worth. The progression of the "pizzas-ordering-out-for-people" gag is both completely demented and oddly logical at the same time.

(Nice to see Cronenberg Rick and Morty chillin' in the background at the Council Of Ricks.)
