Today I switched out a dead Scientific Atlanta DVR to a Cisco 8640HDC. My surround was working perfectly prior to the switch and now I have limited/poor surround sound. Devices and hookups are as follows:
Cisco (out) to Samsung PN51E530 (in) via HDMI
PS3 (out) to Samsung PN51E530 (in) via HDMI - there are only 2 HD inputs on Samsung
Older Sony DAV-FR1 Dream System (in) to Samsung PN51E530 (out) via optical audio cable - HTS has no HD
The HTS has many different audio otions for optimal surround sound but I found one that worked well and sounded great. The setting is DTS Neo:6 Cinema. This WAS working on the old cable box and still does when I use the PS3; there has been no change there. However, for cable, on all of the HTS settings, either the sound only comes out of front right speaker or sounds poor in the rear speakers. I have tried changing the cable box from HDMI to Dolby Digital with no change. I have also connected the optical audio cable direct from cable box to HTS, and no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
