I purchased to day in Barcelona the Bly ray of a great but little seen western...THE LAST SUNSET with Rock Hudson, Kirk Douglas and Dorothy Malone. Interesting for a 60's film... it might be "Incest in the West" It is anamorphic 2.35 It says region A-B-C. I will check tonight when I return to New York.

I have the Koch Media German release, titled "El Perdido". The film is 1.85 not 2.35. It seems a bit faded colorwise to me, but better than the old red 16mm prints I was used to.

I too have the german BD and I watched it a view hours ago.

The PQ is IMO a DNR catastrophy, it reminds me of aquarell paintings.
The grain was squeezed out to the last drop.

What about the german 2017 Blu-ray release from WVG Medien GmbH?
Is the quality any better?
I really like this, special, western :)

I'd like to upgrade from the region 1 DVD which shared the space with another movie (Rock Hudson Screen Legend Collection).

Spain is notorious for bootlegs. Check the copyright. If it doesn't say Universal, it's a boot! As noted above, it's not a scope film and the 1.85 aspect ratio is correct.

There is discussion about the German Koch release in this thread: https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/blu-ray-discs-from-germany.316097/ AshJW said it was waxy: Robert Crawford said he bought it but he never reported back on the quality. I don't know if the newer German Blu-ray from WVG Medien (the one you show pictured) is a repackaging of the same disc or a different transfer.

The Koch-BD is waxy. It is the most waxy BD in my collection. :(

If this new German release is not just a re-pack, I would be delighted! :)

I bought the german Blu from Universal / Black Hill Pictures GMBH / WVG Medien GMBH (which I posted a picture of a bit further up.)

It's the same overly DNR'ed transfer mentioned earlier.

When will this be done right on Blu?
