I've gotten a new 50" Vizio E500I-a1 Smart TV and Denon AVR-E300 receiver. My old receiver was non-HDMI, and my old TV only had 1 HDMI in, so I used a switcher to connect the Blu-ray and the computer to theTV. I'd just like to confirm that the following setup is correct for my new system:

Computer out -> HDMI TV in
Blu-ray out -> HDMI Receiver in
Receiver out (pass?) -> HDMI TV in
TV audio out -> Optical Receiver in
Router -> Ethernet TV (Netflix, etc.)

Am I missing anything?

Thanks!

Why do you have the computer to the TV?

Otherwise...yes.

Your TV isn't going to deliver 5.1 from the computer...provided the computer is even able to send 5.1 in the first place(meaning if your computer is 2.0 only...makes no difference).

Oh, good, thanks! I have the computer hooked to the TV because there are things we can access only on a browser that we like to watch as a family on the big screen. And then there's the occasional home movie as well. I'll be interested to see what the Smart TV functions of the Vizio are that might allow us to disconnect the computer.

Thanks again!

Ah, I see what you're getting at. Might as well take advantage of whatever good sound quality we can get from the computer by going in to the receiver. (Goodness, that seems obvious now  ) I guess the only benefit from going right to the TV is that it's one less thing to turn on, if sound quality is not a concern. I'll have to think about that, thanks.

The only hoop is...Does it have HDMI switching in standby. That, it may not have. All that means, is if "no", You have to turn it on to switch HDMI, then put it back in standby.Otherwise, if "yes", You push input button.

Thanks again. I've ordered, but haven't actually received my Denon yet, so now I'm really looking forward to it! :)
