Saw this today with the kids and it was excellent. Best non-Pixar Disney in a good while, at least since The Princess and the Frog. Reminded me of older Disney movies like Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Only thing that bothered me: Couldn't they have called it The Snow Queen rather than use a generic title, like they did with Tangled?

Will Get a Horse be included on the disc? I was going to see the movie for that alone, but I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable the main feature was.

This seems to be a regular thing nowadays for the Mouse, and I think Enchanted started it. Even Pixar's gotten in on it (Brave, anyone?). Perhaps they think boys will not see a movie that has a girl's name or any female pronouns for the title, despite 76 years of evidence to the contrary. Yet how do you explain John Carter, Thor or The Lone Ranger? The movie was just fine (and has the best score of any Disney animated film since Howard Ashman was still alive), but I really think this trend towards the most generic titles possible is silly. I felt that way about The Muppets and Winnie the Pooh, too.

At least it's not retroactive.

Enough is enough, Disney. No more evasions or excuses. We DEMAND the release Song of the South on Blu-ray along with the uncut version of Bedknobs and Broomsticks on Blu-ray. I am going to boycott The Walt Disney Company until then.

Since they included "Paperman" with Wreck-It Ralph, and Pixar films always included their theatrical short, I'm hoping this bodes well for seeing "Get a Horse!" with Frozen.

I just got back from this.  I loved it.

This is a Broadway show wrapped up inside a Disney animated film.

No small wonder since the songwriting team from The Book of Mormon wrote the songs

and the original Elphaba from Wicked, Idina Menzel, makes this movie hers.

If "Let it Go" does not win the Oscar for song of the year, I will be greatly surprised.

Here is a link to hear the song:

FYI: I got an e-mail cancelling the 3D version.  I don't see it listed on Amazon anymore, either.

There are two Peter Pan films currently in development: Neverland and Pan. Oy vey. I hope this trend passes soon. . .

Ya know, there's really no reason for the 3D version to be exclusive to WalMart (WalMart, really??).  None.  It's not like Disney needs to recoup money on Frozen by having a retail partner foot the bill for the video release.  Frozen continues to make good money all around the world and has undoubtedly turned a profit by now.

So here's what I see happening: a small segment of people will be getting the 3D version from WalMart.  Everyone else gets theirs from Amazon, Best Buy or wherever.  And Disney will use that as justification for saying no one wants 3D or some version of the statement.  Where that leads, I don't know right now.  I just find this decision to be shortsighted, to say the least.

Hey Jason!

Do you think the studios would try to destroy the 3D format by doing something like that?

No, I don't think they will.  But they'll use it as justification for outlandish prices on the 3D BD versions or to do exclusives on all future releases of the 3D editions.

Look at what happened to Little Mermaid in 3D this year.  After a whole host of films get theatrical re-releases before their 3D home video version gets released, Little Mermaid gets pulled.  This is arguably Disney's most high profile film (with Lion King) yet they decide not to commit the theater resources to it.  Their number counters probably have their ROI spreadsheet showing the release would not make money.

I have a feeling they're going to do the same here, just in a different way.  Take away the coupons or have the set as an exclusive to a certain retailer (remember the Star Trek Into Darkness fiasco from the fall?).  What will happen, by default, is the 3D won't sell as well as it could have if it were available everywhere.
