Purchased the "REGION B" UK, France of TESS.  Roman Polanski's acclaimed adaptation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel.  The movie stars Nastassia Kinski as the ill-fated peasant girl whose beauty is both her fortune and her undoing.  Exquisitely photographed as well as brilliantly acted.

The Blu-ray was made from a stunning 4K digital restoration.  The video is excellent with a look of the times, 1888 colors are gorgeous each scene is brilliantly displayed.  The picture contains depth no saturation every scene is clean no specs or unwanted marks.  The audio is full not containing loud booming sounds you hear in the action/Sci-fi movies.  What you would expect from a dramatic story.

The Blu-ray set contains the movie on Blu-ray/DVD as well as a full illustrated booklet with essays and credits.  Please make sure your player can play Region B or wait for the Criterion release.  Knowing Criterion I am sure their release will be just as stunning as the Region B.  More expensive but just as stunning.  I paid $16.00.

Video;  1080P/24

Audio:  DD 5.1 or PCM 2.0 Stereo

Running time:  172 minutes

Region Code:  "B"

Subtitles:  English on/off

This Blu-ray is presented in the movie's original aspect ratio of 2:35 x 1.
