My sister wants to drop cable and get a device for Amazon Prime video. I'm helping her out; at Christmas when I visit we'll go out and get something and connect it. Her TV is a 2006-ish Mitsubishi, 50"-60", probably DLP. I don't know if it had HDMI, but I'm assuming not for now. What's a good device for amazon prime? Any options for HD without HDMI? My best ideas so far are Roku 2 (SD only through composite video) or maybe a new blu-ray player.

And HDMI to DVI converters can be had for cheap, although you would still need the analog audio from a Roku. The Roku 2 XS is 1080p with analog audio available.

That's interesting. I'll factor that into my search. Do those TVs usually have audio input as well? My sister doesn't have a surround system (a DVD all-in-one, no idea if it has audio input)The easiest solution looks like a new TV. Don't know if that's in her budget.

I just checked. By 2005(when all DLP became 1080P), all Mitsubishi TV had already jumped from DVI to HDMI.

Basically, there "should not be" any 1080P ATSC TV out there with DVI.

Thanks. That wasn't obvious to me in searching for Mitsubishi TVsA new TV is out. I asked my sister to check the model # or digital inputs, particularly HDMI or DVI and digital audio. Hope to know more this weekend.

If it's a new year's model, it should even have its own Amazon smart-app built in, thus pretty much eliminating the question.

This is a DLP. Mits stopped making those this time last year. So what's your point?

And could you not read this is could be a 2006?

In case you were confused reading DLP...and thought "what is that? he must've meant LCD", they stopped LCD production in 2011.

And, Mitsubishi never supported Netflix or Amazon video. Why, you ask?

Vudu.

Yep, unfortunately it's an older TV from around 2006. She's in Chicago, I'm in NoVA, so I can't bop in and check things out.

Don't have a model #. She might have time this weekend to look for it. Do you know if model #s are printed anywhere on the front? Thus seems to require flashlight and contortions to try and read the back go the set. She's in Lincoln Park.

I was up at Toast last weekend for lunch. Next time you visit you should have breakfast/lunch there.

Kuma Burger(on Diversey, still count as Lincoln Park?) is great.

The model number is on the back by all the inputs. If it is DLP, it doesn't weigh much. IF they've ever changed the bulb they were only like a few inches from the tag.

I will look for those. We usually blow in and out to see family, maybe with a quick trip to Wheaton for friends :

Kuma caused controversy last month with their Ghost burger(all burgers are named after heavy/death metal bands).

It was fabulous. This month's is just as good. (they change up the burgers monthly)
