Hello all, and thank you for allowing me to join this forum.
I am an older guy (in my early 70s) living in the southern U.S. My hearing isn't so good -- a few years on the flight line at military air bases when we knew better, but rules about hearing protection were not rigidly enforced as they are today. Also, the normal aging process catches up even if one has used proper gear. So, I'll not be talking about putting my speaker wires on supports off the floor to reduce distortion from capacitive coupling to the floor!
I would, though, like to be able to hear dialog in movies and TV shows better than I do. Also, I have a nice (I think) TV with two HDMI inputs and more devices with HDMI outputs. So, I'm thinking about getting a AVR and some speakers. I was looking for some POCS* info that would help me decide how much I need to spend and what my priorities ought to be. I found that here quite by accident and decided this was a place I needed to spend some time before making my choices.
I've bookmarked the Receiver section of the forum and you'll probably find me there if you happen to be looking for me! LOL
Thanks again,
Chuck
P.S. POCS ==> Plain Old Common Sense
