El Dorado is somewhat of another variation of Rio Bravo. One of my favorite Wayne films from my childhood when I originally viewed it at my local movie theater back in 1966/1967 timeframe. Hatari is not one of my favorite Wayne films, but it has its fans. There are some good moments, but just not enough for me.Ronald Epstein said:Will be purchasing all three for certain, though I have never seen
Hatari or El Doroado.
John Wayne is my all-time favorite actor. There are better actors, but there was only one John Wayne.Ronald Epstein said:I think it's time I became more familiarized with Wayne Westerns.
Have seen a few (The Searchers, Man who shot Liberty Valance, True Grit,
How The West Was Won, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, The Comancheros)
...but so many more I have never seen.
I thought it looked *spanking*; here's hoping...Billy Batson said:I saw Gunfight At The OK Corral in HD on the telly a few months ago (UK Film Four) & thought it looked really good.
There have been complaints about Hatari video-wise on the Region B Blu-ray. I bought it anyway because I like to judge such things for myself. I'm going to try to watch it this week.Matt Hough said:Pleased to be able to add El Dorado and Gunfight at the O.K. Corral to my collection. I saw Hatari! at the theater when I was a kid and remembered liking it. Watching the DVD some years ago, I wondered why. I will not be adding it, but I'll bet it will look spectacular.
Ronald, how have you not seen Hatari! it's one of Wayne's most played non western films.Ronald Epstein said:Will be purchasing all three for certain, though I have never seen

In a way, you're to be envied: so many treats in store. I strongly recommend that you watch Rio Bravo at the earliest opportunity.Ronald Epstein said:I think it's time I became more familiarized with Wayne Westerns . . . .

A fine film, I've always wondered how much better it would have been, if Montgomery Clift had played Dude with Elvis playing Colorado.Robin9 said:In a way, you're to be envied: so many treats in store. I strongly recommend that you watch Rio Bravo at the earliest opportunity.
