Cheo Hodari Coker Will Serve as Showrunner for Marvel’s Luke Cage

He'll also write the first two episodes. Coker is best known for writing the screenplay for the 2009 feature film biopic about the life and murder of The Notorious B.I.G. His TV writing credits include "Southland", "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "Ray Donovan".

Buried within the joint Marvel-Netflix press release announcing that "Daredevil" has been renewed for a second season is the news that the premiere date for "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" has been moved up to this year.

That's good news.  Like I said in the Daredevil thread, I wish they would narrow the gap between these series - they should have been released a month apart with the Defenders event at the end of the year.  They were probably afraid of 'overload', but too much time between would allow some to forget.  I mean, Daredevil, for comic book fans, would be easier to remember and watch for, than Jessica Jones.

The Punisher is rumored to be getting his own Netflix show:

I have little to no interest in the Punisher, but I know the character does have its fans. And it does fit into the street angle of the Netflix shows.

I've never been a huge fan of The Punisher, but I've been more familiar with him than the remaining three Netflix titles.

I could see is being a good fit with the Netflix model.
I don't believe in transcending the genre, I believe IN the genre - Joss Whedon
