I moved a couple weeks ago and have a new cable provider - Comcast Xfinity. My old provider was RCN - and they used TiVo. I used to be able to transfer files via wifi very simply. However, it seems Comcast's DVR is less user friendly. I'm only interested in transferring the raw HD files to my Mac, not buying a dvd recorder and using that. Any tips or advice are appreciated!

No recommendations or ideas from anyone? I'd love to get a Tivo, but the monthly subscription isn't really worth it or viable for me right now.

Your only Xfinity option is if your DVR has an eSATA.

That or do live recording via component//toslink.

Although, you might be able to use streaming to for live. Xfinity has been trumpeting "Hey, shut up I'm watching on my Ipad"...(We've all seen the commercial)
