They say you can't really capture the enormity and grandeur of the national parks in a photo but I gave it the old college try!

This is one of my favorites:

Thanks Michael! Can't wait to see the prints, looks like flickr added some strange banding in the web copies, I don't usually see that, tho to be fair I don't do a lot of sky shots...

Love that last shot from Mammoth Lakes, Sam. Sorry you got caught in the whole park closure situation. It would have really ticked me off if we had such a trip planned.

My wife and I love the national parks, but Yosemite is still on our "must visit yet" list.

I was only there for a day man =)I'm gonna guess that its the lake that we were told was Mono lake but isn't, not sure of the name. Just past the Tioga pass entrance.

I guess maybe it's unfair of me....I lived in northern California from 1953 to 2006. Yosemite was always a local park to me. I've seen it go from an unused park to a very much over-used park. I'll see if anyone else recognizes my shot.

Hope you enjoyed your trip Sam. September/October are the best months to visit Northern California and Yosemite.

There was a huge (I mean HUGE fire in Yosemite a month or two ago so much of it has been closed for a while. I hope things recover quickly. Mother Nature can move fast at times. I haven't been there in a few years (where does the time go?) but have to get there next year for sure. I'm not a big camping/outdoors fella but Lake Tahoe down through the Gold Country and into Yosemite is simply gorgeous.

Did you stop in at Lucas Films while you were here? They moved into much of the Presedio right under the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge. It used to be a military facility.

Anyway, thanks for the visit. Come again!

We had the opportunity to stop at Lucas on our way through on the tour bus but the driver told is there was nothing to see. Had I been alone I'd have done it but my family didn't wanna risk waiting 45 mins for the next bus so we skipped it :(Thanks for the kind words!

Wasnt worth it to fix in post for all of them and I'm not gonna buy a T/S any time soon, but it was interesting!

My wife and I visited San Francisco in 2011. Took a day trip to Yosemite. Looking at your pictures Sam took me back to that wonderful trip. Not sure what the qualities like (I'm uploading from my phone via the app). Enjoy!

Edit - Let me try that again:

Links are broken for me Neil! =(
I did it from my laptop this time (same smaller file sizes though - the originals are on my wife's Mac). I have some others but these were a few of my favorites. I thought I snapped some good shots when we were on Alcatraz as well. I have a picture that I took of the Golden Gate bridge hanging in my hallway (not the one above though).

San Francisco is probably my favorite place to visit now, surpassing my love of NYC.

Thanks Sam. I must say, looking back through your pictures (and I guess through mine too) have put San Fran back at the top of place I want to go...and soon. You took some great shots. I had trouble shooting the sea lions but you captured them so well (and so crisply).

Thanks for sharing, Sam!
