Hi, I hope I am making sense with my question.

I just moved into a house that is totally wired for home theater. There are center, front (l/r), rear (l/r) speakers in the main room, and 2 speakers in the living room, as well as 2 speakers outside in the back and 2 in the kitchen.

I have a lot of wires that are marked pretty clearly.

I have no HT components at all currently.

What do I need to buy to get started using these components that are already in this home?

I read a little bit and think I need an av receiver and a speaker switcher?

Can I get an idea or a diagram of what I need to do to get going?

thanks in advance for all your help!

What you need depends on...

1. Your goal. Same music everywhere, or do you want the option of up to 4 sources at once?

2. What are those sources?

3. How do you want to control it? Everything based in the room with the AVR? With remote apps(Apple/droid)?

Thanks! I'll try to respond with what I think I know.
1) I am ok with the same music everywhere if this means a more basic setup.

2. The sources would be:
- the receiver (what's playing on the TV that's in the main room, and what's playing through my computer for the rest of my music collection)
- an additional audio source or two (i.e. a karaoke player, DVD player)

3. I want to control it via what's in the room with the AVR. I plan to use the AVR remote and/or apps supported on my iphone, iPad and also android tablets as they are available for the AVR

My main goal is: I would like to be able to use the sound system as setup for the room where I have the TV to get surround sound, and to be able to do extra things there too like Xbox, Karaoke etc in that room.

My secondary goal is to be able to hear music through the rest of the zones/rooms from this same system.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to learning alot!

If you don't need zone 2(meaning you'll be happy with a 4 way speaker selector), any networking AVR will do.NR414RX-V475E300
