UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – Experience a tale of devotion and salvation when the two-part Biblical epic, Barabbas, arrives on Blu-ray Disc and DVD September 24 from Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment. Expanding on the story of Barabbas from a combination of various gospels, the miniseries is based on the 1950 Nobel Prize-winning novel by Swedish author Par Lagerkvist and stars Billy Zane (Titanic), Hristo Shopov (The Passion of the Christ), Paolo Seganti (LA Confidential), Christiana Capotondi (Merlin) and Filippo Nigro (Facing Windows). Shot on location in Tunisia, Barabbas picks up where the Bible left off and tells the remarkable story about a man seeking redemption after his life is spared at the cost of Jesus Christ’s death. Barabbas premiered in March 2013 on ReelzChannel as an original miniseries event.
As the Bible tale goes, Barabbas and Jesus were imprisoned together and sentenced to death, but Pontius Pilate (Nigro) offered to release Barabbas (Zane) based on crowd demand. After his life is spared, Barabbas seeks redemption that leads him to a fight with an evil empire. Once a common criminal, he must accept that his sword is now at God’s service as he transforms from doubting his life’s purpose to discovering salvation in Christ. Take a journey of biblical proportions with Barabbas, available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD for the suggested retail price of $29.95 and $19.97, respectively.
