How many speakers can you biamp and how would it be most effective? On the front speakers? Or surrounds, etc?

Bi-Amp your mains (and maybe center) with individual amps, leave the AVR (if your are using one) for the surrounds. Bi-amping using the same AVR won't buy you much, if anything at all, since they would still share the same power supply.
