http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=84549WB is planing a Flash TV show. The character will debut in a few episodes of Arrow this season with an episode late in the season serving as a "back door pilot". They say the character will be Barry Allen, he will be called "The Flash", and he will have his traditional suit. I don't know what this means for the Flash movie that is tentatively set for 2016. Does Warner Brothers plan to have two different versions of the character (film and TV) at the same time, or will the cinematic universe cross over with the TV universe?

If its a credible version and they don't go forward with a theatrical movie. I see no reason not to transfer him to the big screen to be in a Justice League movie.

If the small screen version bombs, they will definitely reconsider a big screen version.

I have no problem with them making a Flash TV series, but I wish it wasn't being established as a spin off of "Arrow". I really enjoy the "no superpowers" ethos that show has.

So, not like the old '90 CBS post-Batman version, then?

(Darn, read the header and thought it was coming out on disk.)

In a conference call earlier today about CW's upcoming take on The Flash, it was confirmed that Barry Allen will feature in three episodes of Arrow, starting with eight and nine (both of which will take place in Starling City). However, he will later return for number twenty and it will be that which offers fans their first look at his world, thereby serving as a backdoor pilot for his own series. "When we first meet Barry Allen, he's just a forensic scientist...an ordinary man," Kreisberg confirmed, adding that the character and series will be grounded in the same reality as Arrow. "Part of the fun for the audience is to see how we view our Arrow take on the Flash legacy. Some of it will feel very familiar to DC Comics, some of it hopefully will feel different, fresh and exciting. The same way we approached Arrow is the same way we're approaching Barry." As for how they are going about introducing a superpowered character to the realistic world of Arrow, Kreisberg was quick to point out that they've already thought of that and have something planned which will fit in tonally with what's come before. "There will be extraordinary events in the world and the characters will react in the same way. The fact he has superpowers, there's something more relatable about Barry among of the Big Seven of the Justice League. He got his powers by accident; he's not a god, he's not an alien...his reactions to that feel very...human and grounded." Geoff Johns was also on hand to answer questions and had this to say about this interpretation of Barry. "We're also exploring a very personal story for Barry, life as forensic scientist and the people around him, the tragedies and how he deals with them in a very different way than Oliver Queen." He would later add that they're still working on how Barry's powers will be portrayed, but it won't be just "blurring around." It was also confirmed that The Flash will have his classic costume, with Kreisberg saying: "No sweat suits or strange code names; he will be The Flash. We want to do something fresh, new and exciting and give people a real cinematic experience the same way we did with Arrow."

The preview got my attention. I didn't get into The Green Arrow: my loyalties to Smallville betray me :) but I think Flash will be far enough removed that I'll enjoy it.

As a fan of "Smallville" from the first episode. Do not let your loyalties make you avoid "Arrow". I felt the same way at first. But, the show is just so good and is only getting better.

I watched the first several episodes, and it lost out to other shows. It was ok, but wasn't what I really wanted in a superhero show. And it wasn't the Oliver Queen I know :)

You have to keep watching. You see his gradual transformation from a murdering vigilante who only cares about the names on the list. To the hero who tries not to kill and becomes a superhero. Also, it doesn't happen overnight and you see the reasons for every change on both him and how others see him.

That's the problem. It's the mid-90s all over. I don't have time to give a show half a season to grow. There's so much good TV right now that I'm leaving a trail of desolation as I try and abandon or outright ignore all these "give it time" shows. :)

I watched pretty much the whole season of Arrow. It didn't take with me, either. And John Barrowman showing up only made it worse.

If Flash follows in the same footsteps, I'll be passing on it as well.

I'm hopeful for Flash. Catchy preview. And I don't have superhero baggage for this one (Smallvilles Flash was kind dorky. And the '90s Flash was...well, I watched some of it)

The teaser actually turned me off, specifically him 'whooing.' I guess I was expecting someone more mature, though I believe the animated character is a bit on the snarky side.

I thought the pilot was pretty good. Grant Gustin is very good as Barry Allen, and the rest of the supporting actors seem well cast. I did think it ended up setting up a situation very similar to Arrow, with the hero and his support team on wireless headphone with computer data in front of them. I liked the sci-fi aspects - reminded me a bit of the Six Million Dollar Man, and a bit of Agents of Shield.

Still, I'm perfectly willing to keep tuning in to see if the Arrow team can deliver a quality show week after week.

I also thought this was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was the long haired science guy/assistant who looks like he's 14. This seems like it could be a fun, entertaining show. I like the time travel element that was introduced as well.
