After a twelve year gap (which producers no doubt hope will be enough to erase all memories of the horrible House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute), writer/director Darin Scott attempts to re-boot the film series which began with 1990’s amusing if slight House Party. The re-boot, receiving a direct to video release under the “Warner Premiere” shingle, eschews any attempt at continuity with previous films, keeps the plot simple, focuses the action on the titular party, and even offers up a cameo by the original stars, rappers-turned-actors Christopher “Kid” Harris and Christopher “Play” Martin.
