The show returns on October 13th with sixteen episodes.I personally love this show, but I've pretty much decided to check out of the HTF discussion threads because I just have no interest in hearing how "terrible" it is. Regardless, just saw the new trailer for season 4, and I'm really looking forward to it. Have a look:

That looks really promising. I thought the show got dumbed down quite a bit in season three in the effort to step up the pacing. This looks like the show's getting some of its sophistication back under the new showrunner. The glimpses we get of the prison show that, just because the setting remains the same, things don't have to remain static.

And now comes word about an upcoming spinoff, following a different group of survivors. Where should it be set? I'm thinking Hawaii with an Ash Williams-style leader who does things like garrotting a zombie and then says, "You just got leid."

I'm hoping for the best but it seems like a spin-off with such similar circumstances will just end up taking good ideas from the original show. I hate to be negative but as far as I'm concerned, they might as well call it The Walking Dead: Miami or The Walking Dead: New York.

All that being said, I would like to see an Abraham spin-off where he just shoots zombies with his machine gun and then gets it on with Rosita.

We've seen the blue meth in TWD. Maybe Todd's ineptitude is what caused the zombie apocalypse, and this will be the Saul show, with him defending zombies in court.

Personally, I have always liked the show and Season 4 looks to be quite nice. I don't own and HATE most horror type shows and movies, with few exceptions. For me, TWD has always been a character driven show and not about the gore. The zombies are just there to drive the events and characters, which I love seeing how it all develops.

Do something different, set it in Scotland and let's get Sean Connery out of retirement to play the lead role, as long as there is a golf course nearby, highly likely, he will accept the role.

Sixteen episodes is a lot, i wonder if they can keep the quality up for that long, i just finished watching True Blood season 6, i love that show and think the decision to go to ten episodes was a good one, shame it's finished after the next season airs.

Exactly. I'm a big horror fan so I like the gore and grossness but this show (and comic) is really about how people deal with the end of the world and the collapse of society.

I think another thing that helped True Blood this year was the decision to have most of the characters involved in one story at the vamp camp. That way, the show didn't get bogged down with the slower/less interesting stories.

Decent premiere. It's always tough when you introduce that many new characters in one episode because all I kept thinking was which one of them wouldn't make it to the end. I guessed right on at least two of them. Have to admit though I was hoping for a better payoff with the crazy lady Rick ran into. I'm not even sure what went down with that.

I have to wonder if not for the zombie apocalypse if there would have been a group of ex-cons in the West Georgia area proficient in programming in Delphi.

When I first saw Clara (lady in the woods) I wondered if she was a sentient walker based on her looks and low energy demeanor. Kind of disappointed that it was a one and done for Kerry Condon.

Looks like there will be a lot of new Red Shirts for the show this year.

Yeah. I heard all summer that Phineas was going to be in this, only to have him be Plague Victim #1.

Kinda felt like a mid season lull episode to me rather than a premiere, but I'm still in the "everything sucks after Breaking Bad" mode.

I belong to a forum that has lots of current and former military members...along with some law enforcement. This show drives them crazy with all of the stupid things they do. Just from the season 4 premiere.....

-They notice the sow is sick. Instead of calling the veterinarian who happens to be in your group. You tell your son you have no idea...only to see the pig die.

-As we see in the last couple of minutes. You have one of your group die and turn. No doubt will cause mayhem and death next week. You have nobody on watch to keep an eye on things. Especially, after you had walkers find ways in before.

-Regarding the failed raid to the Big Box store. They didn't even check the army tents. Their may have been some good medical supplies there. Also, yes, their were a lot of zombies who fell through the ceiling. But, you go out the front door where they are bottlenecked and kill them as they come out. When done. Proceed to get the supplies.

Going back to the first season. How many times did Dale's rv breakdown or any other car. They had their pick of numerous car and rv dealerships to get new vehicles. Yet, never did...well at least until Hyundai started sponsoring them.

I understand that if everything went right...their would be no drama. But, some common sense things please.

Yeah, the pig (Violet?) is sick and let's not talk to Herschel was a big bag of stupid.

I'm a little more forgiving on the big box store because one of the party was stuck under the shelf so they couldn't just retreat to the front door without writing him off.
