The listing notes 42 discs in the set. That's more discs per season if the numberis right, it should be all single sided seasons. The 8 original season box sets I have a total of 31 discs:Season one - 4discs doubled sidedSeason two, three, four - 3 discs double sided Season five, six, seven - 5 singled sidedSeason eight - 3 single sided

I only have the first two double sided seasons. What double disced season sets of series have they rereleased single? They did this and Hulk, didn't they do A-Team, Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica? Did they ever do Knight Rider and Kolchak?I need to get this but other priiorities right now.

If Universal has rereleased something in a complete series set, single sided discs have usually replaced the flippers. Columbo, Law and Order, A-Team, The Munsters, Leave it to Beaver's first two seasons became single sided when Shout released the complete series, now Magnum's getting single sided discs...

The first two seasons of Miami Vice were "covertly" re-released as single sided dvds. Though the packaging is almost identical to the original double sided flipper disc versions. The only way I could tell, is that the re-released single sided versions had slightly thicker packaging.

Speaking of Columbo, it appears Universal is re-releasing the first four seasons on Oct 1, 2013.

IIRC, season 3 originally had double sided flipper discs.

Were The Incredible Hulk season sets ever released as double sided flipper dvds? (All my Hulk season sets were single sided dvds).

So far I haven't seen the original Battlestar Galactica being re-released as single sided dvd discs. This and Sliders season 3 are the two dvd sets I'm holding out on, for a single sided dvd re-release. (Sliders season 3 was originally released as double sided flipper dvd discs. Seasons 1 and 2 of Sliders were re-released last year).

The only other outstanding Universal tv season sets originally released as double side flippers that I can think of offhand, which have yet to be re-released as single sided dvd discs are:

- Law & Order SVU seasons 2 and 5
- Law & Order Criminal Intent season 3
- Quantum Leap seasons 2 -> 5
- Sliders season 3
- Emergency! seasons 1 and 2
- the original Battlestar Galactica complete series
- Earth 2 complete series
- Cleopatra 2525 complete series
- Rockford Files season 1
- Seaquest DSV season 1
- Dragnet 1967 season 1
- Murder She Wrote seasons 1 -> 3
- Airwolf season 1
- Traffic: The Miniseries

Quantum Leap has much bigger issues that need resolving than just being reissued on single sided discs. The music cuts were horrible, and a major reason ay QL fan should make sure they can set their DVD player to play all region discs so they can buy R2 releases for seasons 2 and 3, which are not only single sided discs, but come with the original licensed music instead of horrible replacements.

Also, SVU seasons 1-5, Criminal Intent seasons 1-3, and Law and Order season 14 could all do with being rereleased in their correct widescreen 16x9 presentation instead of the incorrect 4x3 versions that were released.

Oh, and IIRC, Dragner 1967 was quietly rereleased with single sided discs, but Adam 12 season 1 is still out there in flipper format only.

Was Law & Order season 14 released as 16:9 or 4:3 in the Law & Order complete series set?

So far I haven't seen the single sided dvds version of Dragnet 1967 season 1. (The bargain bin copies I've come across, all appear to be the flipper discs version).

The complete series release for season 14 was the same edited for syndication, 4x3 release they pumped out around the time Jerry Orbach died.

They did a magnificent job on that set, overall, but screwed up on that one season (well, S4 wasn't released in widescreen, either. And they didn't include the movie. But those last two are kind of nitpicky complaints.). But maybe S14 will get a correct release when the single season sets come around to S14 in a couple releases.

And Dragnet 1967 was never really confirmed, because no one here bought the set. But, the set was rereleased in 2010 as a two disc set, without the bonus audio disc, and everyone just assumed they fit the 17 episodes onto two single discs.

Nice to see Magnum, P.I. finally get a complete series set,. unfortunately, there do not appear to be any new special features with this release?!

Quantum Leap has much bigger issues that need resolving than just being reissued on single sided discs. I think Universal should seriously consider releasing a complete series set of Quantum Leap with all the original music or at least most of it. This show has a huge following so I think a complete series set would do very well especially if it had the original music included.
Did they ever do Knight Rider and Kolchak?
No, they have never re-released Knight Rider with single sided discs (except for the complete series set) and they also never re-released the first season with new packaging like they did for S1 of A-Team.

I think this would be a good pickup for Shout! Factory (its a 1 and done release), although I think at this point it would be better to put out a complete series set.

On another note, I would like to know why Universal has not released the remaining Rockford Files movies?! Why did they split these up in the first place, they should have just released them all together in one set like Shout! did with the Kojak movies.

I know their vault was damaged and all that sad business (can't possibly look worse than Paramount's Cannon), wish they'd start going the MOD route too that way we'd see many more interesting shows released not just the usual select few they recycle/repackage endlessly. To loads of people out there Universal is still thought of as the classic TV studio, instead of concentrating on the same old handful of hits all the time why not get what they can on other titles as well. As far as this Magnum release is concerned, I didn't get the original set so might pick this one up, which of course is partly why they do this stuff over and over only wish they'd broaden their perspective.

The Canadian Amazon.ca website shows the packaging, It looks like 8 nice single season 14mm cases, and a box. That's my favorite format, it shrinks the size of the seriesby more than half.

Just got the "Complete Series" in the mail. Season 1 was previously released with the original cliffhanger version of the Season 3 crossover (with SIMON & SIMON) episode "Ki'Is Don't Lie," as well as the SIMON & SIMON follow-up "Emeralds Are Not a Girl's Best Friend," as bonus features.

Unfortunately, Season 1, as it appears in the "Complete Series" set, does not include the SIMON AND SIMON episode ("Emeralds Are Not a Girl's Best Friend"). I'm assuming, without being able to watch at the moment, that the version of "Ki'Is Don't Lie," included in this new set, is the syndicated version, which wraps up the story and eschews the cliffhanger.

The other bonus features, from subsequent seasons, appear to be intact.

Did you ever check Season 3 on the Complete Series set? I don't have the Complete Series set yet. Since "Ki'ls Don't Lie" is a Season 3 episode, I don't mind them including the syndicated version as a Season 1 bonus since it was a different version that wrapped things up on Magnum. It's nice to have that version too. Having said that, I only feel this way if:

-the original broadcast version of "Ki'ls Don't Lie" with the cliffhanger ending and the Simon and Simon episode "Emeralds Are Not a Girl's Best Friend" are included on Season 3 of the new set.

Did they include those two on Season 3 in the new set?

Guys are wrong about Season 3. The original season 3 set had "Ki'Is Don't Lie" Syndicated episode inserted in its correct place but has the 2-part episode included on the set as bonus episodes. I remember that specifically because I purchased the set when it was originally released.

I bought Magnum P.I. - The Complete Series at Costco yesterday for $75. I figured I'd pick it up to replace the the original DVDs that I bought as they were released several years ago since the new discs are single sided and the packaging is more compact.

Well... I tried to locate the Magnum / Simon & Simon crossover episodes and I can't find them anywhere. They were originally included on the fourth disc of the season one set. The new set is six discs and they appear to replicate each side of the first three double sided discs from the original set.

I do see "Ki'Is Don't Lie" on the first disc of season three but I don't see the Simon & Simon episode "Emeralds Are Not a Girl's Best Friend" anywhere. I don't think they included it in this set anywhere unless I haven't found it yet.
