I would have guessed that the rage over 3D would wane, particularly because of the lack of standards on 3D glasses, the eye strain that many encounter, the heavy glasses and the lack of quality 3D titles.

However, I would have never guessed that Smart TV's would be the reason for eclipsing 3D?!  Particularly when a large percentage of Smart TV's are not hooked up to the internet!'

Read the background on this coming from a "vision buyer" at John Lewis (I guess that is a chain of video stores?).

3D never took off as a sole reason to upgrade, so it couldn't be "eclipsed" by "smart tv".  I have a 3D "smart" tv and use the 3D but not the "smart" as I prefer to use a different source device (PS3, 3D BD player, or my Apple TV) for "smart" stuff.

I prefer not to push the subwoofers until they're properly run in.
