I've just about decided on the Sony 55W802A as my next TV purchase.I know it hasn't been available for very long but I'd love to hear opinions and impressions by anyone who may already have one. Thanks!

We went shopping for TVs just before Fathers Day and I'd just about resigned myself to switching away from my longtime brand loyalty to Sony. Our old RP-LCD 55" was beginning to exhibit the dreaded blue blobs after 8 faithful years of service, and all my Internet readings were about how the Sony brand was all but destroyed and not even making TVs anymore.

I couldn't have been more surprised to find a 60" Sony in a local big-box store, and the price was in our budget. It isn't the same model you asked about - ours is the 60R550A, and it has way more features than I was looking for, like passive 3-D capability and four pair of glasses included.

I'm thrilled with the performance of this set and surprised that there's not a thread on this series of TVs here at HTF.

My DVD Collection

A fugitive moves on, through anguished tunnels of time, down dim streets, into dark corners. And each new day offers fear and frustration, tastes of honey and hemlock. But if there is a hazard, there is also hope. - Closing narration to THE FUGITIVE, "Death Is The Door Prize".
