Continuing on the rumored Apple TV, which XBox One is starting to poke into with its HDMI in and integrated entertainment setting with the updated and substantially more powerful Kinnect and Natural User Interface, we got some additional "insights" at All ThingsD

CEO Tim Cook, revealed that Apple would be taking TV a lot more seriously going forward, having told financial analysts in a conference announcing the company's yearly results in 2012 that the TV business was still at 'hobby' stage.

The CEO told attendees that to date Apple had sold more than 13 million Apple TV boxes, with about 6.5M sold this year alone. This indicated a great leap in sales over the last 12 months given that in the year to July 2012 it had totaled over four million shipments.

Just to be clear, Jobs and Cook have been using the phrase "an area of intense interest" regarding TV at ATD for 3 years running now.  We'll see.
