Adam deserves 90% of the credit on the home page - and I would like to publicly thank him. We all work behind the scenes on many things, but without his effort, it wouldn't be there today.

The new home page seems to have a problem with one of the links in the "Forums" dropdown menu. When trying to select "Blu-ray, DVD, Streaming Video and Digital Downloads", the link interposes the name of the current page you're on, in front of the name of the "Blu-ray, DVD, Streaming Video and Digital Downloads" page, so the link ends up just keeping you on the same page. You can select the individual forums (Blu-ray, DVD, TV on DVD and Blu-ray; etc.) but you can't get to the "Blu-ray, DVD, Streaming Video and Digital Downloads" page.

Oh yeah. I see that. That's wacky. In Firefox, you can see the link at the bottom of the browser. Funny how that seems to be the only place that's happening:

Or, maybe not. it looked fine for a minute, but then I refreshed the page and the problem returned.

Thanks for the heads up KMR & Mike - this is something we'll have to check into with Invision Power.

Can you make it so home page links take me to last read position? That would make it a lot easier to use :)

I do not like having to reset my view new content every time that I log on. Please stop changing my values for what I want!

I think the issue is that View New Content picks up whatever area you last looked at and sets the filter to that, assuming that you want to see more from there. So since the home page is a "page," it will set the filters to Page. If you are in a forum thread, the View New Content filters will be set to Forums.

I assume most people are looking for new content in the forums, so I would think that should be set as the default regardless of where they were after clicking on View New Content. I've noticed this behavior for awhile, but I was comfortable with changing the filters to what I actually wanted, but it does add an extra, largely unnecessary step.

Please note, this request doesn't impact the View New Content button, link or any other setting for your profile. Dave was simply asking that if he clicks on a link featured on the home page (under Hardware Reviews, Featured Forum Content, A Few Words About and Recent Topics) that he not be taken to the start of the thread, but to the first unread post. Its a great idea that I should have thought of and I have added it.

I will look into the behavior of search and new content on the home page.

As I stated yesterday, I am not happy with the change with "View new content ". This has not been fixed.Yesterday, when I signed off. My parameters that I set were Forums and 24 hours, Today, when I sighed on. It was set to other values - namely

Content type:Pages; Reviews,
other: just items that I am interested and
Time Period: 24 hours (which I had set).

I will again request, like yesterday, that my values that I set, be the values when I sign on again. It appears that Adam G has not what he stated in post 15 as the problem is still NOT fixed.Perhaps the delay is due to "more Pressing items" but the home page change code has caused this problem.

Sumner,I don't think you're understanding how the button works. View New Content is not a preference you set and forget. It is a dynamic function that looks for new content like the kind you are currently viewing.

When you are on a page (home page) - it defaults to pages. When you're on an article (a disc review) - it defaults to articles. When you're on a post or in forum view - it defaults to Forum. There is no way to change this behavior that we are aware of, but we will continue to look into it.

There is nothing we can do to change the way this functions.

This was not a problem before untill you changed the home page. Now it is a problem.
According to what you state is not true.

Sumner,

That is because you are clicking it from the home page - which is a page not the forum. If you make your homepage http://www.hometheaterforum.com/index.php?app=forums or go there instead and click "View New Content" you will never have it automatically reset to pages.
