For those that held off buying the import....

....good for you.

There will be extras on the US Blu-ray not
available on the import.

From Warner press site...

Warners continuing their policy of dull photo covers, making it look like any other gun wielding star poster of today's action movie dreck.

Should've been a dentist's chair on the cover. :)

Looking forward to this release.

- Walter.

I'll definitely be holding off on a purchase until we see what we're getting. Hopefully the U.S. release will be "safe". :D

That would've been the Criterion cover, possibly with the shadow of the chair forming a swastika. :D

The disc arrived in my mailbox last Friday and I watched this film over the weekend. This looks fantastic on blu and what a great film with an outstanding cast. Absolutely a must buy for anybody with an interest in thrillers. I had never really thought too much about this before and had not watched the film in years but Marathon Man really seemed built like a classic Hitchcock film. The average guy getting pulled into something where he is way over his head and is not sure what is going on...he does not know where to turn or who to trust. Just a fantastic experience watching this on blu-ray.

A friend came over the day after I had watched it and the disc was still sitting out next to the television and he spotted it and immediately said "Is it safe?"

I laughed and said "Yes, it's so safe you wouldn't believe it."

I have to admit I was surprised he knew the film but he talked about watching it as a kid and how it was one of those films you never forget once you have seen it. He was stunned the film was out on blu-ray.

Olivier, Scheider, Hoffman, and Devane are all incredible in this and Conrad Hall makes it all look beautiful. If you don't already have this what are you waiting for?

Just finished watching this afternoon.

Agreed....sensational thriller and excellent Blu-ray transfer.

My two favorite Laurence Olivier films are this one and The
Boys From Brazil.

So happy to finally own this on Blu-ray. Happy I waited for
the domestic release.

What is strange about that interview....

If I understood it correctly, Hoffman is saying that Olivier
was dying at the time of the filming of Marathon Man, yet
he went on to live another 14 years (approx.) and made
many, many more films.

I watched this film for the first time last night. It's an interesting thriller -- starts slow, and is difficult to figure out what exactly is going on, but it pays off in the 2nd half of the movie.

...and now I know what you guys mean when you ask "Is it safe?"
