Doesn't look like it. This is a BIG problem for me because I'm absolutely sick of studios not including original audio. There's no excuse for this crap! I mean they're presenting Bus Stop in 4.0 which was the original. I was expecting a lossless remix and lossy original for that one. Niagara was mono and is only being presented in 5.1? WTF, Fox?!

Edit: Perhaps Fox found stereo music tracks and used them here. If that is so, I'll find the mix slightly more acceptable. In any case, this is not a trend that should continue. I'm tired of these remixes that are basically bloated mono, but still don't sound original at all.

Edit: 300 Spartans is getting a lossless original mono track, but NOT Niagara? Interesting...

Again, fantastic news but some decent extras would have been fantastic, especially when this is billed as a 60th Anniversary release.

As Niagara was released in January 1953, I think it's doubtful there were stereo music tracks anywhere in the vaults. Though there may be original unmixed stems from which a true stereo track could be created. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Blu-ray had a lossy mono mix. Hopefully Niagara will have one too and it's just a misprint on the press release.

Agreed. What I mean by stereo music tracks are two separate mono optical recordings both recorded on opposite sides of the scoring stage. That's how all Fox music scoring was recorded at the time, though very few survive. If thosefor Niagara survive, we may get a worthwhile remix. I hope the press release just has a typo, because failure to include original audio is inexcusable. By the way, I'm a bit concered that since Niagara has a 5.1 mix, the master may have been created around the same time as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; which, as we all know, was severely DNR'd. I hope that the same fate does not befall Niagara.

Great news. Hopefully Wal mart and Costco will have this one and Bus Stop for a low price as was the case with the other MM films on blu ray last year...

The cover art on the UK edition looks so much better, in my opinion.  I'll be buying this version instead...

Both covers are awful but the UK one is most odd, in giving such prominence to a supporting actor.

Not that I'm overly concerned about cover art, but I have to agree that both covers aren't that pleasing. I'll stick with the US release (if it's region free) as it has a cleaner look.

Looking forward to seeing how much they can improve the appearance of this movie over the DVD.

As I mentioned before, I'm afraid of it looking DNR'd to death like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was last year. I just hope that I'm wrong. That would be a complete deal-breaker for me, especially since the original mono will not be included according to the press release.

Here's hoping that is a misprint regarding the audio.

DVDBeaver's review is up.  The comparison between the Blu and the older DVD is literally day and night....

Just had a look at their A/B frame comparisons...the difference in PQ is frankly stunning...looks like Shawn Belston & company have another winner on their hands in terms of restoring the classic Fox catalog in HD...

And... the audio specs he gives are DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0, so we are getting the original mono after all and lossless to boot!
