DOC McSTUFFINS: Time For Your Checkup DVD Review

Another win from Disney, following the initial release last fall, here are 5 more fun episodes starring the charming and industrious toy doctor, Dorothy “Doc” McStuffins! The toys keep getting “sick” and Doc keeps finding the cures.

The stories included on this DVD are some of my kids’ favorites, notably great music that we like to sing and dance along to. All of our favorite characters are back (we are huge Stuffy the Dragon fans at our house) and are joined by some fun and recognizable toys who become Doc’s patients.

Mom's Perspective: I enjoy the determination that Doc models – she does NOT give up, no matter how difficult the diagnosis! And she laughs throughout her research. The episodes in this collection have more interaction with Doc’s father, which is great to see, including my favorite “Arcade Escapade”. Throughout all of the episodes, it felt like the main character toys have developed more to their personalities and quirks, so the interaction is deeper. Warning: Theme song is addictive, “Time for your checkup, time for your checkup….”

Kids’ Perspective (from my seven year old reviewers):
  • “I learned that it’s important to wash your hands or you might get sick.”
  • “I like it when the toys fall down and “go stuffed” when another person comes in the room.”
It contains five full length episodes, each consisting of two 11-minute stories, packed with fun and new additions to the big book of boo-boos. Episodes include:
1 – Gulpy, Gulpy Gators! / One Note Wonder
2 – Tea Party Tantrum / Blast Off!
3 – Arcade Escapade / Starry, Starry Night
4 – Bronto Boo-Boos / Brontosaurus Breath
5 – Doctoring The Doc / Hot Pursuit

Really good messages about how to get along with others, how to communicate your feelings and how to care for others. The nurturing Doc continues to deliver solid advice about topics from bullying to keeping your cool. If your kids enjoy the TV show, they will enjoy this DVD several times over.
