Upon further investigation. They are way overpriced.  Seems most people grab them for under $50 a pair

I agree that they're badly overpriced but even as a gift they're not ideal for home theater as main speakers. I've not heard them but many long aeons ago had something similar which gave an interesting effect on orchestral music but that kind of diffused spaciousness could come as a shock for dialogue & directional FX.

 

I have no idea about prices for anything in your locale but I reccomend DALI Danish speakers.

Those look clean and unscratched. Easily worth $200...provided they don't need refoaming.I however paid no attention to a shipping cost.
