I'm just glad to see Marathon Man on blu but I think as Ron said when you start to see these films coming out in other countries it seems a domestic version is likely soon to follow. Marathon Man is a great film with some fantastic actors in it and I would think somebody here in the States is going to put it out.

When it comes to foreign Blurays, there is one question you need to ask yourself, "Is it safe?"

THE GREAT GATSBY was just released today in the US, so you might have saved a few bucks. Once you start exploring the overseas markets it is admittedly difficult to keep up, though. Didn't know that SOPHIE'S CHOICE was due, thanks. (And it's a crapshoot when titles will be released here; I hope MARATHON MAN is coming, but the way marketing works it may get saved till a 2016 40th anniversary edition. :)

Depends on what you mean by soon: two months or two years? Cleopatra, Touch Of Evil, Sabrina, Double Indemnity, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? and Funny Face have still not been given a Zone A release but they've been out in Europe for a long time.

Amazon France is releasing a region-free MARATHON MAN BD this week, along with TERMS OF ENDEARMENT.

whilst Marathon Man Bd was a disapointment , looks like Paramount have knocked Terms Of endearment out of the park

Can't rely on caps, regardless of source. DVD looks boosted and smoothed, while BD appears to display natural film grain and fine detail. And comparing Terms of Endearment to Marathon Man is a true apples to oranges comparison: release dates 7 years apart, and Schlesinger is known for favouring a gritty, grainy aesthetic, while James L. Brooks films are by and large warm and inviting in terms of colour and lighting. Also, consider that advances would have been made in film stock over 7 years.

Completely agree, but the Marathon Man caps look very nice in my opinion. Colour is much more natural than the DVD, along with sharpness and fine detail. The dimensions appear more accurate too, with some fairly obvious stretching / warping on the DVD.

If the actual product resembles the caps, I'll be very happy.
