They're releasing Mel Brooks' original 1968 version of "The Producers" with Zero Mostel & Gene Wilder that day, too!!!
Doesn't MGM/UA own The Producers though?I hope this means, that Shout will release the other spoof films of the 70's like The Groove Tube and Prime Time (American Raspberry)

This one brings back great memories. What a great midnight movie this was. Book it in for a Friday - Saturday midnight shows twice a year and you would have full house. Ahhhh A FIST FULL OF YEN and CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS IN TROUBLE.United Film Distributing Company was owned by United Artists Theatres and they also handled the original DAWN OF THE DEAD and both pictures kept them solvent for years through midnight and drive-in bookings.

They've licensed it for blu-ray release to Shout! Factory, which suits me just fine...can't wait to see this in 1080p/full Panavision aspect ratio!!!

You're right, Ron, there is a God!!!!
I remember the night I saw this in a theater when it was released.
Also remember the girl I was with.
Thanks for the post. Let's hope they did a good job with the transfer.

Oh man, does that trailer ever bring back the memories of ... a more innocent time? And yes, let's have The Groove Tube as well. I have distinct memories of seeing that one a couple of times in its first run.

I'm happily surprised to see this pop up.
It's always nice to catch up on the work of famed producer Samuel L. Bronkowitz.

Oh man, I hope they carry over at least the audio commentary from the DVD. IMHO, it's one of the funniest tracks ever recorded.

KFM coming to the blu, who wooda thought it.

I still have my old dvd. the first one had rot so I sent them an email about it ans they simply sent me a new
dvd sealed in case like brand new.

So I ended up with both cover art versions.

When I saw the thread title, I immediately thought "You will cream in your jeans..."

That, and the newscasters watching the young couple get it on.

Just did a brief spot-check of the new Blu-ray release.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that Blu-ray gives great benefit
to the transfer....

...and I should have expected that knowing the condition of
the original elements. All the warts are amplified, and those
sequences shot on video suffer from a certain degree of
brightness blowout.

Not a pretty Blu-ray by any means.

I recall the same problems on the DVD from, I think Anchor Bay. Does it at least look like a good transfer of a dodgy source material?
