Robert Parrish´s The Wonderful Country (1959), starring Robert Mitchum, has been released on Blu in France. Screen shots: http://www.dvdclassik.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=34409 This seems to be the new France-based restoration shown at 2012 film festival in Lyon, France. Pre-order the Blu/DVD 2-disc set here: http://www.amazon.fr/LAventurier-du-Rio-Grande-Blu-ray/dp/B0097D3QDO It´s a bit expensive. Perhaps there will be a separate Blu release later.

35 Euros is expensive, particularly if this disc has burned-in French subtitles. I don't normally bother with screen caps but those on the page you linked to do look a lot better than the images available from my DVD. I'll delay buying and will wait to see if this transfer becomes available in other countries.

I asked on a French forum about fixed subtitles on The Wonderful Country release on the Sidonis label. The response was that in general, subtitles are fixed on DVDs released by Sidonis.

Thank you for that. I'll definitely wait for a release in another country. Unfortunately that probably means waiting a very long time.

Today as I type 35 Euros is about A$45 in my country(it has been rising this past week against the Aussie dollar) but then you have to add the postage and bank/card fee(2.5%). However, I have not looked at the site so that price might be the French/EU VAT price, allowing for the value of VAT to be reduced off the price if ordered.

My experience of Amazon France is that their prices exclude French taxes, so 35 Euros is just the beginning!
