Purchasing a Denon 1613 AVR, but I am looking for speakers to compliment it. This will be in a living room not that large. Someone had recommended the below speakers for this set up and wanted to run it by you guys before purchasing it for a 5.1 surround sound set up. Going to be using it for Blu-ray, Gaming, Movies,Music. AVR: http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER Speakers http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER

For aesthetics or room size that makes sense. However, how are these speakers in terms of quality / pricing? These would be at the top of my price range for speakers, wanted to see if there were another type that could be recommended over these or if these may just suit the bill for 5.1 surround sound system.

The Take Classic is a pretty decent speaker system with good quality for the size/price. It was better when available for around around $300. Others to consider are the Boston CS-2310 (if you can still find it) and the Mordaunt-Short Carnival http://www.accessori...-Package/1.html as well as the Def Tech ProCinema 600/800/1000 (maybe over your budget). The biggest issues with the small speaker systems is the subwoofer and center speaker. The subs usually don't go much lower than 32 hz and the small driver(s) in the center speakers can make the vacals sound thin at times. But for the price they are about what you would expect. A larger speaker system would probably perform better. I'd get the speakers as a 5.0 and add the BIC subwoofer Sam suggested. http://www.amazon.co...8128824&sr=1-28 Or... Martin Logan http://www.amazon.co...8128824&sr=1-43 Small bookshelves would be better. In addition to the the other mentioned previously...and there are so many more... 2 pair of Polk RTi4's (on sale at Frys for $129/pr http://www.amazon.co...8129361&sr=1-16 and a CSi3 (frys $99). Not listed on Amazon But for casual use in a small room the Energy Take system has been recomended for years.
"Everyday room": Panasonic 58" Plasma, Dish HD DVR, Pioneer Elite vsx-23, BDP-23 BR, dv58avi universal dvd player, Paradigm Studio 20 V1, CC-450, Dayton HSU-10 subwoofer.
"Movie/Music room": Toshiba 65" DLP, Dish HD receiver, Marantz 7005, CC-4003, BD-7006, Polk LSI25's-LSi7's-LSiC, 2 original Dayton 10" "Mighty-Mites" subwoofers. (subject to change without notice).
Also have MB Quart Vera VS05 +.....too much to list. Help me.
